The Organic Pompeian Robust Extra Virgin Olive Oil 16oz is the same price ($3.68 but without the 5% S&S savings and delivery is between Nov 29-Dec 18). But, you can get the larger 24oz and 32oz sizes earlier (they are the same price/oz, and do qualify for the 5% S&S savings):

The organic is showing the 5% S&\S for me, though with the Nov. 22 to Dec. 3 dates.

Wow! Thanks!I just checked a bag of cat food I got from Amazon that my cat absolutely refuses to eat, and I saw the date on it was 5-15-2024!!! I looked it up to see if it was a production date, but it seems to be a "Best By" date. Even if it was a production date, it's certainly more than 18 months since production.EDIT: After spending about 15 min with Chat, they did process the return, even though it was outside the return window. I had not checked right away and probably would not have checked without having read MAK1981's post about expired food! Thanks, MAK1981 !!!
I need to check the cat food that just came

Just went to the basement to move laundry to the dryer and checked the Pompeian EV Robust I got in September. It has a Jan. 27 expiration.

"Expiration" is perhaps a misnomer, as it doesn't offically "expire" but rather deteriorates over about a year, so most experts recommend using bottled Extra Virgin Olive Oil within a year to 18 months of its harvest and pressing.

My guess is that the best by date of Jan 27 likely corresponds to a 2024 harvest and pressing in Jan 2025.

There's nothing wrong with your canned cat food that's a few months (or even a year) past "expiration" (usually actually "best by"). It's mostly just to move stock on hand. Most often there is no noticeable difference. Don't buy into it unless you have some facts to say otherwise for the specific item (like perishables).

While I agree with you that canned cat food slightly past its "best by" date is safe, you'll notice from the photo I attached that I ordered a dry cat food (Purina ONE High Protein Dry Cat Food, +Plus Urinary Tract Health Formula) which comes in a breathable paper bag that's exposed to air. This formula has about 12% fat, and that is another factor likely to increase its chances of becoming stale or rancid more rapidly.

Unlike wet cat food in a hermetically sealed metal can, dry cat food is more likely to break down within a couple of years. If the expiration date is 5-15-2024 (as was the case with the food sent me), it could have been manufactured a year or two before, so it may already be several years old.

I was quite surprised when my cat refused to eat it as he never has refused other foods. One fact is that no other cats would touch it as well. So, it will now be compost for the garden.

As for extra virgin olive oil, I think experts would recommend avoiding olive oil (even in sealed bottles) that is a year past its "best by" date. And you would be justified in asking for a refund if you did receive such outdated oil. Likewise, I assume, if you bought and were sent canned cat food that was a year past its expiration/best by date, even if it's "safe" for your cat to eat.

This deal comes to about $8/liter for Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Do you see it for less elsewhere? I normally buy EVOO from Costco, and it'll cost more than that per liter ($10/liter) for their Organic Kirkland EVOO, and you'll have to buy the 2-liter jug to get that price.
