This video compares the Microsoft Surface Pro 11 with an IPS display and Snapdragon X+ processor to the OLED display and Snapdragon X Elite processor models (0:41-0:47).
The speaker, who has been waiting for an OLED Surface Pro for over a decade (0:26-0:31), shares his surprising findings.

Key comparisons: Display Quality (IPS vs. OLED): While the OLED generally offers a more vibrant visual experience, the IPS display unexpectedly demonstrates more accurate color reproduction and better rendering of black levels in the speaker's testing (2:42-3:11, 4:06-4:21).
The OLED model struggled with rendering dark images, appearing completely black where detail should have been visible (3:25-3:43).
The speaker suspects the OLED panel used is a budget-friendly option, possibly from LG rather than Samsung, as its peak brightness is under 600 nits, which is low for current OLED standards (5:50-6:16). Some users have also reported a "screen door effect" on the OLED due to the touchscreen layer, though the speaker doesn't find it makes the OLED unusable (7:25-8:26). IPS displays also generally reproduce white colors better than OLEDs (8:54-8:58).

Processor Performance (Snapdragon X Elite vs. X+):
The speaker found no discernible difference in performance between the more powerful Snapdragon X Elite and the X+ in typical usage scenarios like office work and content consumption (9:26-9:58, 10:39-10:47). This is largely attributed to Microsoft's emulation layer, which prevents the full utilization of the beefier X Elite chip (9:47-10:06).

Battery Life: Both models offer similar battery life, with over 10 hours of use (12:47-12:51, 21:24-21:27).
The battery life difference depends on content consumption; OLED performs better with dark themes due to pixel shutdown, while IPS might do slightly better with predominantly white content (12:51-13:20).

Overall Recommendation: Despite his initial enthusiasm for the OLED, the speaker ultimately cannot recommend the OLED and Snapdragon X Elite configurations over the base IPS and X+ models, primarily due to the significant price difference of $400-$500 for a negligible performance improvement and unexpected display shortcomings (16:08-16:52, 19:46-19:52). The only scenario where the OLED model might be necessary is if a user requires 32GB of RAM, which is currently only available with the X Elite processor (17:06-17:14, 18:47-18:50). He emphasizes that these machines are not for heavy lifting or gaming, but excel in portability, battery life, and quick recharging (15:10-15:12, 15:43-15:49).

1. Yes, it is

2. I don't see one for 650 at microcenter, but if you mean the one microcenter has for 600 that one is far inferior. The 13" surface pro with 10/12 core CPU has over 2x the GPU power of the 12" surface pro with 8 core CPU. the 13" also has faster storage and other bonuses

As far as I know this is the lowest price for a new condition surface with these specs with the keyboard bundled

Thank you.. You think is this the best buy for a new surface owner model? Hate to purchase to find out this is under powered or should of bought a different model. Hoping to make a purchase to last a few years.

You asked the right guy 'cause I have done all the research and have a Surface myself. The below answer is long, but should be very helpful.
  1. First, decide if you want the SURFACE PRO or SURFACE LAPTOP - this is crucial. The Surface Pro is a tablet with a detachable keyboard; the Surface Laptop is a laptop. Both are thin and sleek, both have touchscreens, both are mobile, both have really nice hardware. So the main differences? a: The Surface Laptop has a better keyboard and trackpad than the one you will get here - not that this one is bad, the Surface Laptop is just significantly better. b: The Surface Laptop also can sit on your lap like a normal laptop; on the other hand the Surface Pro has a flexible keyboard and a kickstand in order to stand up which works great for a desk but not so great for a lap. c: the Surface Pro can use a pen, the Surface Laptop cannot use a pen. d: The Surface Pro while a fantastic productivity tablet is about 40-50% heavier than typical media/consumption tablets, so just keep in mind if you don't plan to use the productivity features at all there are better choices. e: while Surface Pro cannot be beat as a 2-in-1 device, having both a Samsung Galaxy Tab/Pixel Tab + Surface Laptop would likely serve most people better than only having a Surface Pro - where the surface pro excels are business "road warrior" types who need a single do-it-all device for business productivity, entertainment, etc.
  2. OK, that out of the way, keep in mind this generation of SURFACE devices are designed first and foremost to be nimble, low power, instant on/off, long battery life - the type of instant response you'd expect from a phone and not a typical laptop. That's because this generation of Surface uses ARM64 processor instead of the tradition x86-64. In order to minimize compatibility issues, Microsoft has written an emulator called PRISM that translates x86-64 to ARM64, and by now that emulator is very robust - even working with AVX/AVX2 extensions. So when these first came out, there were some compatibility issues, but now with the latest updates that is no longer much concern. I personally haven't found anything of note that is incompatible.
  3. So now about this specific deal - the deal is excellent, you get the ideal hardware combination for the Surface Pro (13" LCD screen, 16GB, 512GB SSD, 10-core CPU). Various testing of these Surface Pro/Laptop devices have found that the 10-core processor works the best in the 13" pro and 13.8" laptop; while the 12-core processor works best in the 15" laptop only as only the 15" has the cooling capacity and battery size to support it. There is also an 8-core processor as I mentioned, but that is the underpowered one. BUT, where this specific deal might cause an issue is the keyboard. Granted, the keyboard is very low priced here, but if you wanted to use the Surface Pro Pen note that this keyboard does not have the charging slot for it. So, if you did want the pen in addition to buying it separately you'd also have to charge it separate because this isn't the Pen-charging keyboard. Note that the pen costs $100-$130, so if you don't really care about that this is a non-issue
  4. I would also take a look at this specific Surface Laptop 13.8" I linked for $849 at similar deep discount. It is spec'd almost exactly the same, and has the same premium build, but again with a better keyboard, better "lapability," and for most people would probably be the better buy UNLESS you really don't want to use a separate tablet for media, need the pen, or specifically want a productivity tablet instead of laptop: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-...B0CXKY7JYZ
  5. The Surface Pro 13" and 13.8" both can play games, but the performance is only "okay" even with the 10/12 core options, think 30fps range. These are mainly made for productivity, general web use, etc.
  6. If you have any questions let me know, I know its complicated this year! Too many models and options lol.
