New TV go crash, now have scratch. What to do?

8,339 2,449 November 6, 2025 at 06:31 PM in Chat
I had a new TV ready to be attached to a stand, and unfortunately knocked it over in the middle of the night. Crash. Boom. Now there's a 3" scratch on the bottom of the screen. Crying

Is there any way to repair it or should I just resell it at a loss and get another new one? Only paid $100 a year ago.

That's not a bad deal. I'm too cheap to go for it though. I keep hoping Amazon Vine will give me a TV, but so far no luck. Program blesses some Viners and not others. Sadwalk

I miss their return policy. laugh out loud

Serious answer though: Is the TV screen itself compromised, like you see a large dead spot, lines going across the screen, or a area where there's just color and no movement?

I'm assuming this was a LED TV?

You can try this to see if it will help: Unplug the TV. Clean the affected area with a microfiber towel and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Then apply a very small amount of petroleum jelly and buff with a microfiber towel. Let it dry for a while (at least 12 hours) and see if that helps.

Vine has blessed me with a lot of useful music gear nod Keyboard stands, wireless mic & instrument setup, cables, etc. A bit lighter most of this year though.

I haven't even turned it on. The scratch offends me. It goes about 2.5" straight up from the bottom center. I'll keep it as a spare and then sell it for cheap. Thank you for the suggestion. I may try that. heart

Ooh another Viner! Hope things pick up again soon. It's been so depressing there lately.
