Deal Details
Verizon is offering $1,000 off any Google Pixel 10 phone on any upgrade-eligible line with no minimum plan requirement and no trade-in required. This makes the base Pixel 10 Pro free [verizon.com].

As always with upgrades, it's done via 36 months of bill credits. If you cancel your plan, you'll owe money.

Optional trade-ins can be applied to get upgraded storage, but you're likely better off selling the old phone on your own.

Customers must log in to see the offer and choose an upgrade-eligible line in your account. Upgrade fee is $40.

Is there a catch, besides locking in for 3 years and paying sales tax on full retail?

Edit: Ordered. Thanks, OP.

You need more? How about your first born and an overpriced plan for 36 months?

Got a loyalty offer on my line and I'm stuck in a classic "good problem to have" scenario. Would love to get your thoughts.
  • Currently using an iPhone (switched from Android in 2020).
  • I'm comfortable in either ecosystem. I was an Android user from the Samsung S3 days, so I'm tech-savvy.
The Offers (No trade-in required, keep current plan):
  1. Pixel 10 Pro (or Pro XL): $1000 off. This makes the 128GB model FREE.
  2. iPhone 17 (Base Model): $600 off. This makes the 256GB model only $230.
My Dilemma:
On paper, the Pixel is a "better" deal—it's $1000 in value for $0. The iPhone is still cheap at $230, but it's not free.
My hesitation is that Pixel phones (and Androids in general) depreciate much faster than iPhones. Even Google's own trade-in values tend to tank.
A few more details:
  • My Usage: I'm a very average user. I'm not a big photo nut, I do very minor gaming. Mostly just streaming, browsing, and regular daily use.
  • Ecosystem: This is the big one. The main things I love about iOS are Apple Pay and the seamless integration between my devices. I'm already using an Apple Watch and AirPods Pro 2.
  • What I Was Waiting For: I've actually been holding out for an $830 trade-in offer (with any plan) that showed up on another line on my account. Of course, it's not on my line. Honestly, I think the iPhone 17 base model is going to be a worthy upgrade (supposedly the biggest one in a while, with less difference from the Pro).
So, what's the smarter move?
  • Take the free $1000 phone, even if it pulls me out of the ecosystem I'm pretty invested in?
  • Pay $230 to stay seamlessly integrated and get a 256GB iPhone 17?
Thanks for the input!

If I were you, I'd pay to stay in your ecosystem. Or, trade in your current phone to help cover some of the gap.

It's a bit of a pain but check your account every morning. I've upgraded 3 of my lines over the last month, and randomly the deal will pop up on a line and then disappear a couple days later. You have to click the "2 offers" in order to see the second offer that doesn't require a switch to a new plan.
