I personally use regular utility hooks into a stud. The distance between studs helps avoid handlebar conflicts.

So the wheel just sits on your drywall? Remove, rehang, remove, rehang. Your wall will be a mess in no time. Recommend screwing a sheet of plywood to the wall, then this mount over top of that.

Seems like you could get some peel and stick vinyl from the dollar store to protect where the wheel will contact. Super easy to clean or replace. Unless youre mounting some chonker of a bike here I wouldn't be concerned with wall damage from a rubber tire.

The previous homeowners of my home used something like this in the bottom of my garage rafters and ended up splitting the rafter. I repaired it by sistering another piece of 2x8 onto it.This product is 17" long, but the holes are on 16"which should be good if your house was built with studs 16" on center. Some older homes may not follow this standard.
