I bought one for half this price and couldn't get rid of it quick enough. Novices stay far away, they need a lot of work to be comfortable

I ordered an indio classic non dlx plus and it was a piece of garbage. I had frets that we're sticking out and all kinds of cosmetic damage on the neck. To top it off it was w nightmare to return. I emailed them and and then started the return process but asked for pictures of the damage. I sent pics and never heard from them for a week even though i was emailing monoprice everyday for any updates. Likely I paid with PayPal and started a claim. My return was a approved in an hour.

The best option for a beginner: if at all possible, visit a guitar store and play around with their used gear. Almost any guitar shop will have some used guitars well under $200, and you can probably convince them to throw in a new set of strings. The most important thing for a new player is that they like the instrument. That will help them practice more - as long as it's playable. Added bonus: the wood on older instruments will tank to be a bit more stable out of the gate. Most of these Monoprice guitars are fine, but there's always going to be variation coming off the factory line, and quality control at the lowest price instruments is low.

Fender squier in my opinion is a good guitar out of the box. I have an Affinity and man if I had this guitar when I was just starti g out I would have do e so much better at learning g. Easy to play, perfect action on the fretboard, and stays in tune. A little buzz from the electronics but barely annoying
