Time to become a drummer for a day or two then completely abandon this new hobby.

From the product page-
Note: The following parts are not included and sold separately:
• Kick Pedal
• Snare Stand
• Hi-Hat Stand
• Drum Throne
• SD Card
So if you're a beginner without these things then the cost will be higher. I would probably aim at more of a budget kit anyways if you're looking to get into the hobby

GREAT DEAL on an amazing set. The snare drum and hi-hat alone add up to almost this price.

I've played acoustic kits for a long time. How does the feel of a higher end electronic kit compare to something like this?

This has 3 of the Roland digital devices (ride/snare/hat). They are incredible compared to plain old piezo based pads. The only downside of this kit is the module, the newer v71/v51 modules sound so much better than the TD27. This module was released in 2020 so it's quite old at this point. The v51 by itself costs $1900 so you'd be above the price of a TD-516 kit and you get a better kick and bigger floor tom.

Played e-drums for a long time since moving to the city (15+ years). They are wonderful but still nothing gives the same feeling as acoustic in my experience, even this with the new digital hi-hat, snare, and ride. That being said, they are still incredibly fun and flexible, much quieter than acoustic, and overall easier to transport in my opinion.

Seconded. I think this is a sweet spot for E-kits as it is normally, and at this price, this is the one if you want to buy something great. I usually get used Rolands, but I would take this even over the used market at this price since it has the digital ride/snare/hi-hat. Just need to find a good hi-hat stand, throne, headphones (or PA speakers), and sticks and you're ready to go.

That was the Gen 1. This is the Gen 2, which came out in 2022. Some upgrades: Crash, Hi-hat, and most importantly the drum module are all upgraded. https://www.drumsilent.com/roland...drum-kits/

Correct, but also the TD27 2.0 module is just a software update. The module itself is still using the same hardware that shipped in 2020. It's not bad sounding but the v31/51/71 are leaps above it.

I've used a bunch of modules in the past and typically didn't waste much time with the built in sounds and instead used Superior Drummer 3. Am not feeling the need to do that with the v51, especially with some of the DW kits you can get from Roland Cloud.

Would you recommend getting TD-27KV2 with VST like SD3/EZDrummer 3 or just spend more on TD516? Not sure if the price difference is worth it for TD516.

Superior drummer 3 sounds great but it can get expensive pretty quick if you are buying a bunch of SDX packs. EZ Drummer also sounds great and it's packs are a bit cheaper. There is a bit of latency with this setup compared to a module but it's dependent on the computer and audio interface you are using. I used SD3 for years but it's also nice to just turn the module on and not worry about the computer part of it.
