The i7-6700 slightly outperforms the i5-7500, but they're 10 and 8 years old, respectively. The Ultra 5 225 outperforms both by a wide margin and is a modern processor, released in Q1 of this year.

The main problems I see with the refurbished one are, as UniqueMagic721 pointed out, it doesn't come with an OS (and doesn't support Windows 11). The second is it has a traditional mechanical hard drive rather than an SSD, so it's going to be much slower loading apps, booting up, and slower in general.

I also don't think it's comparable, as garth25 said.

It's in no way comparable

Anyone know if it is a single stick of RAM or two 8GB?

Thanks in advance!

Previous reviews/questions show that the system has 1 16GB stick. Product image confirms 1x16GB stick.

Also only two slots on this board, better performance from only using two stick of memory anyway.

I was hoping it was a single stick of 16gb so that the upgrade 32gb would be as simple bas adding another. Thank you!!

I have win 11 running on it now. There are versions of win 11 that skip the hardware check. It's a complete non-issue.
Yep, and the likelihood that you paid for a license on your $75 system is low too. Security updates may fail in the future and bypassing the need for TPM 2.0 does reduce security measures on your "new" pc.

Regardless, getting a decade old PC is not the same thing as buying a new unit. It is much slower, more prone to failure (aged PSU), and needs more technical knowledge to make up for the inherent shortcomings even for daily usage. (replace HDD for SSD, upgrading memory, bypassing windows features, troubleshooting more common failures) The integrated graphics can only use support HDMI 1.4, so no real 4K support unless using display port.

Costco has the 500gb ssd version for $500. It's been OOS the last few days. Best Buy store has this unit for the same $550 price. I have a feeling this hits the sweet spot for people upgrading +8 year old systems. I think it's a really good price. I bought one from best buy store. Interesting typo on the site, title says "1 TB SDD".

BB link for in-store. Same PC. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/d...ku/6622619

There's Dell store deal. But that one has less RAM and less SSD storage. I have a feeling that will be the only one left in a few weeks.

Assuming this is a good option for upgrading 10+ year old Plex server which my wife is starting to use for photo editing as well?

Good eye noticing that "SDD" typo. Smilie

Wow this has a very low wattage power supply at 180W. Do not buy this if you plan to do any serious gaming. You might get away with an RTX 3050 6GB but not much more due to the small PSU.
The case is also very small. Don't plan on adding anything. The tower plus is a bit bigger and comes with a slightly bigger psu. Don't get this with plans to add a dgpu.

none of that is relevant to me. Literally, none of that. Many people who looked at that mediocre deal may see my post and find a better option they hadn't thought about. But then there are a lot of suckers out there who think they need all the crap you posted about when they don't.

Good for you. Maybe do not call a decade old computer "a pretty nice and comparable setup. " when the CPU passmark score is 1/5 of the deal posted. It is thread-crapping and misleading to people who do not know, "suckers" with less knowledge on the subject.
