I wonder what is the difference as well.
Also I used this deal with Verizon last year. So opened an account, paid off, and device unlocked after 2-3 months. Can I redo this? Do they black list for such behaviour?

Yeah. I don't like how misleading the post is. A gift card doesn't change the fact that my bank account would be down $1k and not -$500...

using the link in the OP, the 16pro is for $900 = $25 * 36; wonder if walmart will increase the price on 11/4 to $999. Did they do the same thing last year - raising price with $500 gift card?
