the law was specifically changed a year or 2 ago to remove the solar requirement. it used to require that, but no longer. Also if I buy a toaster, I install it by plugging it in! A reasonable, and defensible interpretation of "installation" is hooking something up in a way such that it can be used in the way it was designed to be used.

that's the part I don't get. so has to plugged into a generator interlock kit? I'm guessing if you tell your tax preparation person about purchasing one, they may ask about proof of installation before they put it down in your 1040?

I think you have to have proof you installed the transfer kit to get the irs credit
It doesn't actually say that and it also doesn't say it has to be paired with solar. It's actually incredibly ambiguous for tax code which works in the taxpayers favor.

Good unit as a standalone unit or for an RV, but remember it's only 120V, so this shouldn't be used to directly back feed a home electrical panel as it will not work with anything 240v.

You don't need any proof. I guess the IRS could audit you, but how many Joe Homeowners are the IRS going to go after regarding a 30% tax credit for solar stuff at a few hundred bucks?

Yep, I literally read and reread the code for a few days because of how poorly it was written. The only "gotcha" is the qualified manufacturer pin that will be needed on the form, most likely fine for the large manf. but I'm not confident mango or pecron has put in for one.
Can anyone confirm, that you also get the FREE 200w portable solar panel, as a qualifying purchase?
Damn, the credit appears at checkout, seems like a smoking deal. The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger is my well pump requires 220v, which very few support and are over 2x the price for a 4k Wh system, like the Ecoflow DP3...WITHOUT 200w solar panel...ugh

Yes, I just purchased one of these and I was shocked to see that I got the free solar panel too. It's $299 and when you go to check out there's a $299 promotional credit app applied.
