I have the pro 4, but I FAR prefer the option of this design to having the rubber suction cup jammed into my eardrum.... yes, having your ear totally plugged up creates better audio for music and blocks external noise.....but for being around the house, listening to podcasts/youtubes, or sleeping with an airpod...these are 1,000% more comfortable resting in your ears.

I got these when they first came out and they were uncomfortable for my ears. Went back to the AirPods gen 2. I wish they would update that style with new internals.

I've got the ANC version, and I think the noise cancellation works shockingly well for all the fan noises and such that you are surrounded by. I think it's worth the extra money. I haven't tried them on an airplane yet. I would suspect that the Pro works better there, but my ears much prefer this type of air pod vs. the silicone inserts of the pro model.

I don't believe any AirPods would normally ever stay in my ears when running or moving about (like most people), but when I put some cheap ear hooks on my AirPod 2s I can then take them to the gym with me and exercise as much as I want without any fear of them falling out. Complete game changer. Mine came free when I purchased a silicone case cover.

just looked that up, very cool! I am ready to buy, but I assume I need to remove them every time for charging?

Yes. I just keep my airpods charged in their case like normal and I keep 2 of the silicone hooks in a small plastic box by themselves and slip them on before I head to the gym. It just takes a couple of seconds to take them off and on again so not the biggest hassle. Way better than the airpods falling out every few seconds when moving my head around or when laying down while working out.
