Are those real through-holes in the soles? If so, no one in their right mind should run trails in those shoes.

100% correct, that plus the deep grooves on the underside make ON shoes less desirable for trails. Stones consistently being stuck make ON shoes pavement pounders only for me

This is the only price I would buy on shoes at. Anything over $100 is way too much.

"Swiss engineering on cloud" most likely refers to the On brand's running shoes, which feature a cushioning technology called CloudTec. This technology is designed for a soft landing and firm take-off, using horizontal tubes that compress and then lock to provide a solid foundation for each step. The brand's use of the "Swiss" label is a key part of its marketing, emphasizing quality and performance through precision engineering.

Is this true? Expecting feedback from people who have used those shoes.

Exactly. Ultra runner here. I've been wearing On for over a decade and only wear them to walk. They're basically decent, fashionable walking shoes at best in 2025. Trail running...forget it. Just from a shear force perspective - the structural integrity of the soles will be demolished after a month running on technical terrain (scrambling, landing on roots, jumping over logs, etc.). Not to mention all the rocks and debris that will end up in these through holes. I recently bought my first pair of Altas even they are showing issues after two months on moderately technical terrain. You do not want holes in your shoe soles for serious trail running, you're better off in VFF.

Too narrow for wide ft. This is like Nike narrow compared to NB wide. Great deal if it fits you though
