Equivalent to Visible+ is Total 5G+, which you can get for $30/month on BYOD.

T-Mobile performs poorly on QCI7 (Mint and every other T-Mobile MVNO) when it's overcrowded, especially in places like Costco or a stadium. However, T-Mobile has the best raw download speeds when it's not congested. One reason for such performance is that almost all name-brand T-Mobile's own plans run on QCI6, as does Google Fi. So, every T-Mobile MVNO will have a bad time (except Google Fi) when congested.

Only a select few Verizon postpaid plans run on QCI7. All other MVNOs (Visible+, Visible+ Pro, Total 5G, 5G+, Spectrum) and Verizon Wireless run on QCI8. Then, at QCI9, all other deprioritized plans, like Visible Base, Total Base, and select US Mobile Warp, are found.

Just port your number to google voice so you keep your current number. Then sign up as a new customer and just forward from that new number to your number in gv and your good. Your able to skip around and get the best deals all the time. Just have to change your esim/sim and forward your new number each time.

Transfer your number somewhere cheap (like Helium Mobile, $5/mo). Cancel your Mint plan. Their system will delete your account almost immediately. For good measure, open a new account with a different email address. Transfer your number back in.

Does data work if I go to Canada?
Got the 5GB plan last year, it works better than my Tmobile essential unlimited in Canada. Mint has 3GB at LTE or 3G speed, T-mobile only has 128kbps which is probably for survivalists...only thing is some phones will require changing APN in Canada in order for it to work

I ordered 5GB last year, no auto renewal, ending in 14 days, just ordered this unlimited.
I will lose my number, but will I be able to activate this using my existing account after my previous number is gone?

This is helpful thanks. How do things work with the messaging apps like iMessage/GoogleMessages/WhatsApp, etc. Do they remain seamless during the transition? I don't think you can use gv for WhatsApp. So I suppose I would need to do some kind of a backup restore of WhatsApp? Also with gv, your iMessage/Google Messages are not going to be where you get messages, from your contacts that have your primary number (the one you are trying to keep). You have to use the Google Voice App for messages, and I don't think it is the best experience. Actually this gap in messaging is the primary issue with using Google Voice. If the world understands the downsides of SMS/MMS and all switch to internet based messaging like Signal/WhatsApp etc., things will become a lot more portable and let us do this kind of switching between carriers while keeping a virtual number with some place like GV.

Anyone know if you can use a Mint sim in a cellular modem like this for use as a backup ISP?

I use this exact model with Mint as a wireless fail-over connected to my OPNsense router. It pulls from the hotspot data limit, so once you hit 10GB it stops working until it resets for the next billing period.

Yeah - that's the bummer. If you are willing to switch numbers, it will work. But not fun to do.
Port main number to Google Voice. Then it doesn't matter which plan/number you use any more

Just realized a few others already said the same thing so I'll just expand a little further according to my experience with GV for the last 7-8 years:
-call forwarding is seamless.
-text msg (sms) goes to gv app.
-WhatsApp, telegram accounts associated with this number stay the same, no issue.
-only issues is with 2FA from some banks/institutions (maybe 20%-not a huge number) but since you still have a normal mint number albeit changing, switching just a few of these 2FA's is quick 1hour work

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think when moving your main number to Google Voice, you essentially just set the default texting/dialing apps to GV...aka forwarding isn't really involved?

I'm debating about going this route and taking advantage of the Pixel 10 Pro deal that Mint is offering. I just hate having to play these games to get a good deal, and having to deal with the inconveniences that come with GV. I previously used Google Voice for 7 years on a work phone, where my company paid for Verizon service with a business number. I ported my personal number to GV for "free" service that ran over the work phone's 5G. In other words - used the default texting/dialing apps for business purposes, and used the GV app for personal purposes.

My main complaint with Google Voice, and hesitancy towards doing this with Mint, is the 2FA issues. I had fairly regular issues with 2FA texts (banks and misc. online shopping, etc) that just would not come through to GV. Also experienced some annoyances with texting as GV does not support RCS.

Still debating on this route (port to GV, and buy "new customer" deals yearly) versus switching back and forth between Mint and US Mobile every year. Hmm...

visible unlimited plan is $19 a month. This is $180 + $30 fees and taxes, comes to $210 which is almost $18 a month. so just $1 difference, paying month on month with flexibility of switching to other carriers any time, visible seems like a great deal. am I missing something?
