T-Mobile performs poorly on QCI7 (Mint and every other T-Mobile MVNO) when it's overcrowded, especially in places like Costco or a stadium. However, T-Mobile has the best raw download speeds when it's not congested. One reason for such performance is that almost all name-brand T-Mobile's own plans run on QCI6, as does Google Fi. So, every T-Mobile MVNO will have a bad time (except Google Fi) when congested.
Only a select few Verizon postpaid plans run on QCI7. All other MVNOs (Visible+, Visible+ Pro, Total 5G, 5G+, Spectrum) and Verizon Wireless run on QCI8. Then, at QCI9, all other deprioritized plans, like Visible Base, Total Base, and select US Mobile Warp, are found.

WOW... so Ultramobile is also Tmobile... do you know if they throttle you if you choose their highest or second highest teir plan?

When you use a VPN, all of your data, including video streaming, is encrypted. This makes it much harder for the carrier's optimization technology to identify the stream as video, and as a result, many users report that a VPN can often bypass the 480p throttle and allow for HD streaming (provided your signal strength is good)
The issue with me is where I live... I don't get great speeds with Visible so PDAnet while it worked... I don't think it was any better.
This is what the industry has done to me... look for the best deal, sign up for a year if you can and move on.
I usually switch between Visible and Mint but someone mentioned Ultramobile which seem to have very good prices as well.
