Got this TV in the early spring before they released the Bravia 8 II for a similar price. Have been very happy with it so far. I play games on it and watch live sports and stream from netflix with no issues. I don't use the built in android though, as i have an nvidia shield and desktop pc it's connected to.

Yes. Same WOLED panel LG sells to every manufacturer & used in their current C5s.

I bought a refurb from the local Microcenter a few weeks ago for $900, and it has been flawless and indistinguishable from a new unit. Apparently Microcenter refurbs are actual refurbs that get checked out at a capable facility, not just re-boxed returns, although I added an extended warranty, which they support in-store. Sony still threw in SOny Pictures Core with 15 movie credits, even though I bought a refurb. They still have one (Mayfield, OH), now down to $849, and 55" for $700, for anyone on a sub-$1000 budget. And they have LG C4's in 65" for $849 now, too.
I'm happy with it, and my eyes prefer the picture to comparable Samsungs. If price isn't a concern or you need the latest and greatest, the Bravia 8 II uses an absolutely beautiful QD-OLED panel, but for my first OLED the picture, other features, and price of this Bravia 8 are perfect. If I had paid $1200, I'd still be satisfied - thought it was time for an OLED, and it was. Really nice paired with a Sony HT-A5000 sound bar, which is unusual in that it has a actual sub port so I didn't have to replace my old Yamaha.

If you have doubt with this merchant, it seems $1500 is the Sony promotion price for the holidays and available in many places. Costco just as always throws in a free extended warranty. total 5 years. It also lists "2-Year Sony Pictures Core Streaming + 15 Movie Credits", about which I am not sure if that's exclusive to Costco.

That's incorrect. Sony, Samsung, etc is clearing their OLED inventory. They have stop making oled TV. LG is the only company that will keep making Oled because they built their reputation on the technology.

All other TV manufacturers are moving to miniled RBG in 2026.
