Why can't I find anything on this TV? Was it just released?

This looks better or the same to the 98Q651G.

Dolby Vision IQ - added
~500 kWh/year vs 600kWh/year - more efficient.
288 VRR vs 240 VRR - does this even matter lol?

Biggest outliner: 4× HDMI 2.0 vs (2× HDMI 2.1 + 2× HDMI 2.0) on the 98Q651G 🥴
I hope that's a mistake.

If you don't get confirmed HDMI 2.1 or 4K120Hz + 12‑bit, you'll still get excellent performance (4K60Hz, 4K up to maybe 120Hz at 10/8‑bit, the QLED panel etc) but maybe not the full "top tier gaming spec" so I wouldn't buy it for gaming, it's a 98" TV for 1K.

For true gaming I would probably get a true dedicated gaming monitor. I don't own this TV "yet" but when it arrives I can tell you better. My wife is going to hate me for this LOL....

This is the question I've been dealing with. I have a 75" q80r from 2019 which was a top of the line Samsung at the time. It's showing it's age even though the picture is still nice. I'm debating getting the huge size upgrade but a mid-tier tcl. From everything I've read, the md-tier TCL would still be an upgrade based on the newer tech.
I think the Samsung Q90FN was the top of the line at that time and its performance was higher than lower models

That being said the immersiveness of the larger TV is nice... but I think you will be going backwards on a few things with this TCL
I would set my sights on at least a TCL QM7 series...the TCL QM8 would probably blow you away and its $1399 for a 75 in

We all know it's not a mini-led, so the real question is which is better.

This or 98Q651G that will be going for $1k as well.

Sure one is 2024 and the other 2025, but outside the same processor and almost identical specs.

The 2024 one is 18lbs heavier (without stand).

What could they have cut on the 2025 one?

Rtings reviews on the Q550G for comparison. The brightness doesn't exceed 450 nits, and no local dimming. Very good for gaming though.

The Walmart one should be slightly better, if you go by TCL's numbering with models. Probably not by much, but still, for the same price, why not? I ordered this, and will cancel if I get the other one, I'm not a Walmart plus member so I have to wait and it might be sold out.

My googling missed this, thanks. I wonder if this was just a Canadian set, its just so weird that its a 2024 and one review.

I've been eyeing this thing all morning and finally pulled the trigger. I'm fairly certain the the 4 HDMI 2.0 ports is a typo. All evidence points to it being two 2.0 ports and two 2.1 ports. The photo of the ports in the listing shows two ports labeled "4K/144hz" and the other two labeled "4k/60hz." 4k at 144hz VRR is not possible on HDMI 2.0. Not to mention the inclusion of eARC. While eARC can be implemented on HDMI 2.0, it seems unlikely in 2025.

Was aiming for a mini-LED set, but $999 is hard to pass up when I'm not exactly a videophile. Crossing my fingers it's a good TV, but if not, I can always return it (after renting a box truck...) Now, how do I break this news to my wife?
What is your delivery date? I set mine to December so I could scope other deals. If you get it, can you report back and tell us if its any good?

Just took a look at the one in Walmart right now (not the BF TV), it's the identical TV as Best Buy, nothing different.
Picture is the same, measurements are incrementally a little off but same TV different SKU.
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong though.
