Prices are going up just like ram been blowing up. SSD's are next and storage in general thanks to AI.

Includes HDDs, AI companies are buying up all the production time so all these products are being put on pause, less supply, more demand, prices go up.

Wait a minute. There is a slick deal post for this for $239, so wtf? https://slickdeals.net/f/18810064-starts-nov-20-24tb-seagate-barracuda-3-5-7200-rpm-512mb-cache-cmr-...
Nov 20th vs live today, both relevant but maybe should be combined.

Worst drive I ever bought were baraccuda computes. Failure rate was WAY higher than WD reds for me. My Reds havent died in years. One was DOA though. But these segates can die in a year under normal use. Don't put anything you care on a single source of failure, anyway. Always have a backup.
I think regardless of any brand you should always have back ups of data in case of failure. I have a 3TB seagate with a shit ton of bad sectors lucky i was able to recover all the data.

I just brought an Iron Wolf Pro 14TB (its on the seagate site) will give it another try before writing seagate off forever

I rather just buy an external hard drive w/ the amount of TBs I'm looking for and just shuck it out of the enclosure since they'll come in less expensive. E.g., I recently purchased a Seagate 26TB External Hard Drive this past June from B&H for $249.99 (which was originally posted on Slickdeals by the way).

Or, you can pay ten dollars less, get 2TB less, but also not have to deal with this shucking business

For one drive, maybe worth it, but not if you need multiple

This is a good deal. Thanks OP. Is the 2 yr warranty accurate on the Newegg site? I thought exos have 5 yrs warranty.
This is not exos though. It's barracuda.

I did not realize that hard drive prices are on fire too. This thing was on special for $250. Now $519!!! Yeah, I'll sitting on the sidelines for quite some time. I have plenty of gear to keep me going for quite some time.

They are on fire, but deals do still exist for hard drives however they're definitely harder to come by. There's currently one for a 26TB Seagate expansion (which should have a barracuda drive like this) for 280: https://slickdeals.net/f/19091557-26tb-seagate-expansion-desktop-usb-3-0-external-hard-drive-280-free-shipping
I want a deal on some Exos drives but I don't anticipate any soon Frown
