At this price, you're better off buying the M4 Pro chip. The M5 only improves on the single performance when compared to the M4 Pro. It lacks the Thunderbolt 5 capability in the M4 Pro MacBook Pro. The best value of the M5 is the base configuration for $1469 (MC).

not necessarily true. If you're looking for larger memory - this is 1 TB and 24 GB of ram - this is an excellent deal on the newest model. No need to short change yourself if you need certain performance. This was an excellent deal!

The base MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip comes standard with 24gb RAM. At the same price of $1800, it's really M5 with 1TB or M4 Pro with 512gb, (faster multi-core performance, significantly better graphics, and Thunderbolt 5). IMO, $1800, I'll get the M4 Pro instead.
