Look at these in store first. 14" 2k OLED is actually bad. You can obviously see text fringing.

Getting downvoted but it's true and nothing new. Phones had it first since but they increase resolution along time ago to combat it. Oled and low resolution doesn't go well since the sub pixels have different arrangement than standard lcd screens

ASUS = No Deal. Ask anyone who was unfortunate enough to deal with warranty service

Some great hardware specs but as others have said - really needs the 2.2k (1400) resolution - especially on a 14" screen - the 1200 screen really shrinks the effective size

Too bad, I have seen this effect you mention in the 15.6 screen size where it's soo obvious it makes it look like maybe slightly lower resolution than 720p. Didn't realize this was also the case in the 14 inch size

I was going to get this as a work computer and output to external monitor, but no way I'd buy an ASUS with this amount of stuff that can go wrong

Is this a hot take? I didn't see any negative comments about this particular model on the other thread. I was planning to get this laptop myself due to all of the praise it got, but your comment has me reconsidering...

I picked this up on the last round. I'm sure some folks will find faults with the resolution/fonts but they're probably a similar minority to the ones who would find some deficiency in the chips used in the SSD. For the typical consumer this laptop is a crazy steal at this price.

FWIW there's a diagnostic test in the bios that you can run and it checks the fonts and graphics -- everything looked great to me.

no. resolution doesn't change the screen size.

It shrinks the "effective size" because it's less content dense - you can't display as much content on to the screen at once as you can with a higher resolution screen

It appears open boxes are only subject to a 90-day warranty, anyways

Just picked it up today. Super snappy and love just the feel of the laptop. Yes there's a little bit of font fringing but it's not a deal breaker especially at this price. Got the open box fair but looks almost brand new
