1. Sign up for Google Fi
2. Choose the Flexible plan (the cheapest entry option).
3. Use a referral or promo code to get $60 off service, this usually comes as bill credits after activation.
4. Wait 21 days before the special phone deal appears for your account. Early Dec
5. During this period, eep your Fi account active, eSIM or physical SIM
6. Check for the promo after the 21-day mark.
7. Purchase the phone using your Fi account.
8. Ativate it on your Fi line. The post says to "disable the eSIM after the countdown goes down by 1.
- That means Fi requires your phone to stay active for a minimum number of days (usually shown as a countdown on your account).
- Once it decreases by 1 day, you can disable the Fi SIM and use your own carrier.
9. You must keep your Fi line active for at least 120 days to avoid losing credits or having Fi charge you back for the discount.
10. After the 120 days are up and the countdown hits 0, you can pause your service (to stay eligible for future deals) or cancel it entirely.
I hope this is clearer now

Mind you this $500 existing subscriber discount isn't as good as the $300+$500 new subscriber discount, but only requires 120 days and allows changes between plans, whereas new subscriber is 24 months of bill credits for the $500 and might not allow you to change between plans.
I'm not at all clear where they "$60 off service" is coming from.
