*** IMPORTANT *** If you plan to buy this to side load apps that allow access to tv programs and movies from other sources be aware. Amazon is killing the side load option and will only allow apps they approve very soon. Meaning many of those other apps will be removed by Amazon from the firestick. If you only plan to use Amazon or Large Company Apps you will be fine.

Just found that out a few days ago after having to install updates on side-loaded apps that I've been using for years. Not cool, Amazon. Not cool at all. Time to consider an Nvidia Shield I suppose.

The ONN 4K Pro is equal to the Firestick pretty much in all ways and helluva lot cheaper than the shield. Might give it a go first.

How about screen mirroring from your Android phone to the stick?

You can freeze the firmware version so you don't have to deal with that. Pretty good chance that whatever you receive right now hasn't taken the October update yet.

The Nvidia Shield plus Projectivy for a launcher makes about the best experience you can get with a streaming box.
With all of the ads and Amazon's other anti-consumer changes, it's hard to see why anyone still uses these. I'd much rather have a $20 Onn box

There is no indication that apps already installed will be removed. It may just be that in the future you may not be able to sideload, but that has yet to be proven. All is well for now.
