Per ChatGPT:
The forum user's claim is technically incorrect, outdated, and misunderstands gaming workloads.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is not "too weak" for an RTX 5080.
It will, in fact, outperform the Intel i9-14900KF in most games, especially at high framerates and high-end GPU configurations.
If your main use case is gaming — especially with an RTX 5080 — the 9800X3D is the superior choice.
If you also do heavy workstation loads (Blender, code compiling, video rendering), then:
Intel = stronger multithread
X3D = better gaming

For the price, you could always just buy the case you want, and sell the old case. Or if you have a case you like, just swap. Just a thought, I know it's not ideal for most.

Community Reviews

This is a strong value gaming PC built around the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080, with several comparisons putting it ahead of similar prebuilt options and even close to the cost of the graphics card alone. The 32GB DDR5 and 2TB SSD make it feel well rounded, and the machine is described as fast, quiet under load, and running flawlessly for gaming and everyday use. The main concerns are Micro Center pickup only, the white case and internal lighting, and questions about the Gigabyte card, RAM timings, PSU, and ASRock motherboard reliability. A solid high end package if the parts and store pickup fit your setup.

Competitive gamers wanting a high-end 4K rig, because the 9800X3D pairs well with an RTX 5080 for top gaming performance.
SharkBait707 dyeah
Shoppers who want a near-top-spec prebuilt instead of assembling parts, because it can be cheaper than building the same performance tier.
udip_s mzdrati
Gamers who want a quiet tower, because it runs mostly very quiet and stays quieter under load than a comparable machine.
jiyoonlk Anarchaos
Buyers replacing an aging desktop for design work, because it handles demanding apps and can run PCVR with only occasional freezes.
mzdrati

Buyers who want maximum platform confidence, because the motherboard and GPU choices have raised concerns about CPU stability, PSU quality, and thermal gel leakage.
jiyoonlk mzdrati MaziRoddy999 Anarchaos
People who want a black case or understated styling, because the white chassis and internal lighting are a poor fit for that preference.
m3n00b mzdrati RushNRoll
Buyers who need a machine they can get without a long drive, because this deal requires in-store pickup and can mean a six-hour round trip.
jcp42877 Anarchaos
Upgraders who want 64GB of RAM out of the box, because this configuration ships with 32GB and leaves less headroom for future memory-heavy builds.
dalto IndigoSweater892

The system can deliver stable performance under heavy gaming loads, with CPU temperatures staying under 90C during play.
jiyoonlk
Micro Center pickup pricing can be reduced further using a store credit card and a reduced sales tax zone.
mzdrati
The deal can include a 30-day price guarantee that refunds the difference if the price drops within that window.
mzdrati
The PC can run flawlessly after purchase, and it can pair well with external speakers and an OLED ultrawide display.
Aarong149

Micro Center availability can be impractical when the nearest store with stock requires a 6+ hour round trip.
jcp42877
The included ASRock motherboard can raise platform stability concerns for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, including worries about CPU impact.
jiyoonlk
The higher-priced configuration can cost extra for 64GB RAM and an X870 board, but it may not be worth it unless 64GB is required.
dalto
The included cooling solution can be a concern, since CPU temperatures can spike to around 95C during benchmarks on a similar Walmart configuration.
Anarchaos

Common Questions (5)

Reported temps are generally under 90°C even under heavy gaming or benchmark load, and the system is often described as very quiet or mostly quiet. Idle noise can still be audible, so some owners expect to tweak fan curves or replace fans/coolers for a quieter setup.
jiyoonlk jiyoonlk leecm Anarchaos
At $1,999.99, it can be cheaper than building a similar-spec system, especially when the RTX 5080 alone is around $1,200. It also compares favorably to other prebuilts in the $2,200-$2,300 range, though some buyers still prefer custom parts or a different case.
udip_s CharlesMTF HappyCheetah589 mzdrati
The main concern is the ASRock board and related 9800X3D stability reports, plus some buyers also question the RAM speed and PSU headroom. The G757 uses 32GB RAM and a B850 board, while the higher G759 adds 64GB and an X870 board, so the upgrade only makes sense if you specifically need those extras.
dalto IndigoSweater892 MaziRoddy999 DBarnes727
It is in-store pickup only, so buyers need a nearby Micro Center and may face a long drive if the closest store has stock. That makes the deal impractical for anyone far from a store, even if the price is attractive.
jcp42877 mzdrati leecm
Micro Center's 30-day price guarantee can refund the difference if the price falls after pickup. One buyer also reported getting a $200 refund by walking into the store after the price changed.

I bought one at the Denver microcenter a few days ago and they had plenty. It runs flawlessly. I paired it with Edifier m60 speakers ($150 amazon), and the older gen 34" alienware aw3423dwf OLED ($499 amazon). Really a lot of high quality video and sound for relatively cheap. I think with the prices of RAM being so high, it's a decent time to snag a deal and run int for the next 3-7 years depending on how bleeding edge you need to be.
