Most of it is good except the plier tip.. it sucks. It's kind of annoying to have to grab actual pliers when this was supposed to help reduce the need for it..

I hate knowing they had it working and broke it.

Older version? ..or bigger version?
I haven't owned the smaller one, but the bigger set has a pretty meaty plier tip that's more geared for things like grabbing/pulling NM-B wiring, or grabbing & pre-twisting conductors. It also has the crimper behind the hinge - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../313642138

You are correct, there is a 7.75" tool and a 9" size tool. I have the smaller pair and the tips are more like long nose pliers instead of squared off like on linesmen pliers. The bigger of the two appears to have proper linesmen plier style tips on them. I'm not sure what I would prefer, probably the long nose if I'm stripping wire and wrapping it around metal lugs. Using the bulky linesmen pliers for that seems a bit like overkill...although you can make it work.
