This Verizon iPhone 16 Pro deal is mainly about a low monthly device payment paired with a $500 Walmart eGift Card, but the real value depends on navigating the payoff and cancellation steps. In store, the gift card often arrives within minutes or hours, and Verizon phones are supposed to auto unlock after 60 days. The main friction is that payoff access can be blocked for about 30 days, some stores only accept cash, and the line still needs separate cancellation. Sales tax is due on the full amount, and the gift card timing can be delayed on online orders.

Common Questions (5)

  • The offer requires installment activation on an eligible AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile plan, and the gift card is sent by email. In-store purchases usually get it within minutes to 24 hours after activation, while online orders can take up to about 21-25 days after shipment.

  • Yes, but the payoff process is inconsistent: some buyers were able to pay off at a Verizon corporate store or by calling 611, while others were told to wait 30 days or that only corporate stores could do it. After payoff, the line can be canceled through Verizon chat or customer service, but you may still need to push for prorated charges and fee credits.

  • Yes. Verizon's policy says phones purchased from Verizon or an authorized retailer are locked for 60 days after purchase or activation, then automatically unlock unless the device is stolen or fraudulent. Several buyers also reported the phone showing unlocked around day 60 without needing a separate unlock code.

  • The gift card is issued by Walmart after the purchase is completed, so canceling the carrier line does not appear to void the card by itself. The bigger risk is paying off the phone too early or failing to complete the installment activation, which can prevent the promotion from applying.

  • The phone price varies by storage, with examples like $24.98/month for 128GB and $27.75/month for 256GB over 36 months. A common 256GB total is about $1,099.08 before tax and activation, so after the $500 Walmart eGift Card the effective device cost is roughly $600 plus tax and fees.

For ATT does the phone need to be active for 60 days if we want it to unlock automatically or just 60 days after activation (and line canceled within 3 days of activation)?
ATT:

1. payoff

2. swap esim

3. request unlock

4. unlock approved

5. port out

All can be done within 3 days

Can this phone use Total Wireless on the second eSIM while it's still in the 60-day Verizon locked period? Anyone tried this?

Glad to hear it worked. After you cancel line, you may try to contact Verizon to request unlock. I know the 60 day automatic unlock rule, but I was surprised a rep submitted unlock request for me when I contacted. It's been almost 24 hours since my unlock request, still locked to Verizon.
how do you contact them. Call them? Because I cannot access chat anymore once the line has been cancelled

No Total has a different carrier lock tag, same as Tracfone.

If i submit an unlock request after midnight, then i only can cancel service with ATT tomorrow, which is my day 4. I am afraid to deal with the customer service with prorated or full month service fee since I see all different information about cancelling after 3 days. some information says you pay prorated fee and some information says that you need pay the full month service fee. Should i just try to call customer service and ask them to unlock my phone. if it doesn't work then i just wait after midnight to submit an unlock request. I am worry if i call customer service and they refused me and then the call will set up a red flag with my account.
anyone here cancelled ATT after day 3, what's the final bill statement you got?
See the wiki of this thread for more info https://slickdeals.net/f/17327499-oneplus-nord-n30-5g-128gb-unlocked-chromatic-gray-cph2513-best-buy-0 but ATT cancellation policy is 14 days so before that prorated charges for only the days used and then you can void the activation see instantly from the bill. ATT will send you a full bill and you need to talk to them.

The phone worked (activated) in the store, the only difference is I told them I wanted to pay off completly. I dont know if that scrwed it up, like now the system is thinking it is not on installment. To fool, you have to first let the GC come in whether it comes in a 5 min or day and then pay off the phone. I dont know paying off was really the problem but that's what the giftcard help people tell us now and I cant even return the phone. What agencies I can file complaint with? I filed one with FCC but by the time they provide their decision, the phone will be old.

correct. I transferred eSIM from the unlocked 16 Pro bought Sunday to this new locked 16PM, waited for registration, then transferred back to the unlocked 16p. After waiting for a few hours, the unlock portal would not approve the request saying the phone belongs on someone else's account. So I transferred the eSIM back to the locked 16PM and tried unlocking directly from online account portal. That approved it immediately.

From all the various experiments I've done, I think it's safe to assume the phone you bought does not need to be unlocked on the same line that it was signed up with. You can safely pay off the phone and cancel the line and activate it on an existing ATT line for unlocking. Basically, as soon as the phone is paid off and the line is cancelled before you open the box, ATT recycles the IMEI back to Apple as Reseller Flex Lock policy and you can activate it on any carrier and follow their unlocking policy. In this case, ATT is still the most generous with its immediate unlocking loophole.
Yeah, that's what I have seen from before. It's great that they are unlocking phones which is paid off without 60 days wait. Its good for the people with an existing line for ATT.

That said, there is no harm chatting with CS to get the unlock code.

Edit: if you do call CS you perhaps want to move eSIM back to the iPhone 16 pro so it shows up on their end.

You can call them. I was wondering on their website contact us page but somehow was given an option to text them. Now I can text Verizon rep by iMessages. There is no phone number associated their iMessage page.

the term says installment activation, not ongoing installment.

I guess installment activation will trigger gift card.
