RTX 5080 is a waste on the G14. The only/higest option is the 5070 ti.

It's true that these devices are extremely TDP limited. Even the 5070 Ti model is very TDP limited.

But the RTX 5080 variant here scores 8 - 12% higher in graphics tasks (source: ultrabookreview) compared to the 5070 Ti model and has an additional 4GB of VRAM. It's going to run slightly more efficiently at a given power level which helps heat and fan noise.

It's maybe not the kind of upgrade worth the extra MSRP upgrade cost of $750 but this open-box deal is $250 less than the 5070 Ti model priced new and you also get the 2TB drive. It's the lowest I've ever seen this model priced.

Love my g14. I travel a lot so it's always on the go with me and perfect size to take in a carry on, but these buggers get HOT. I'm talking uncomfortable to keep your hand on the keyboard under heavy gaming. Def recommend a controller for anyone considering getting one.

It's the price you pay for awesome gaming performance in a macbook like chassis. I went through the G14, G16, and then just gave up and got a Legion 7i Pro 5080 as the G series just ran too hot for me.

I love my 2023 Flow X13 so much when I travel and gaming on the plane. It's niche and Asus sucks so hard. But damn do they not make the coolest MacBook sized gaming laptop.

If yours gets that hot then there is probably an issue with the LM, where you probably left it upright, which is very bad for LM-cooled laptops, they need to stay flat as much as possible and have very little jostling or else the LM can leak out and cause parts not to get cooled properly, which would cause it to get hot like you stated. I would RMA it if I were you, as mine, even under full load, gets to maybe 80-85C and that isn't hot enough to be considered uncomfortable, but the 95-105C that you're probably seeing, would be.

How does Asus warranty work on open boxes? I have heard it if you ask them to re-register the product then they ask you to submit receipt and when they see open-box mentioned on the receipt then they reduce the warranty to 90-days.

I bought an open-box that was registered by the previous owner so it won't allow me to register the product but it shows warranty till 12/15/2026.

I am not sure if I get warranty till 12/15/2026 or it won't be applicable till I register the product and when I register, it will be reduced to 90-days from date of purchase.

Anyone has experience with Asus warranty on open boxes?
