That solar dash cam for 100 can't be good right ? How are these guys making a solar one when the bigger companies charge twice that much or more for 4K wired ones even without a back camera

A lot of decent dash cams can be found in $100 range. Anker use to have ROAV(?) that was essentially $45-50 and pretty good dashcam. I've got 2 since 2017-2018 and they're still going.
This is a 2 cam model and looks like they're pricing themselves to undercut the market of dual cam models (as lot of decent ones can be had for 150) they enter the market, should be decent.
this is what i was trying to do... a wyze/tapo/eufy cam with a small solar panel... but yeah this tiny panel might not be enough to run a small toy, how they are managing battery for a dash cam!

Read the description, the solar panel doesn't power the camera during continuous recording while driving.

No way that tiny solar panel will charge anything due to the size and the location.
The solar power is used for parking mode - though not sure how it will fare in the winter time where it's mostly overcast/snowy. I actually had to turn off parking mode because it would detect motion by me getting the kids out of the car. Then when I returned to the car, the dashcam won't start recording as it thinks there is some sort of incident going on.

yes, i read that... but point of having continuous power supply is to record when vehicle is off... which is most of the time of the day (at least for me)...and if goes into standby only spring back when crime has started, is not the ideal case... i want always on-always recording camera, which doesn't eat up my car battery... that's why i have doubts for that small solar panel.

If you don't want the dash cam to use the car battery you can use any power bank to power it.

Do you realize how much space on a memory card would 24/7 recording in 4K require?
why didnt they make? thats my question for awhile as well. they should have made these kinda of solar cams for cardash at least 20 yrs ago. why relied on cars battery.

thats dumb. you dont want your power bank to be sitting on your dash anytime. let alone all day long. no power bank should be in the car for a long period.

yupp... i don't think it is going to be real 4k, and even if it is, i hope there is setting to go dowm to 2k or fhd...only need 24 hr storage, after that it can write over.

thats dangerous... if dashcams have exploded in past, what guaranty is that power bank will not... and then we have to re-charge power bank... worry about that it is not depleted before we leave house... in my opinion best setup is with solar panel (even if we use power bank), at least in the sunny areas... for colder regions there is no choice.
