How are these different than say regular impact sockets? Can they be used the same way? I need some stubby impact sockets but will these destroy good bolts/nuts or something like that?

Look closely at the picture(s) and you can see there is a reverse spiral cut in each socket to grip a previously damaged socket that needs extraction. I've got a set like this called "turbo" sockets. Don't use them very often, and end up only using one or two of the sizes on jobs with lots of the same size nuts / bolts.
