The RT-BE96U stands out as a high-end WiFi 7 router with strong range, fast speeds, and solid stability, especially in AiMesh setups. Setup is described as straightforward through the Asus web interface, and the router's 4x4 tri-band design, two 10Gb ports, and built-in AdGuard Home add real flexibility. Real-world reports include whole-home coverage in large houses and smoother gaming and streaming after upgrades. Main caveats are its large size, lack of SFP+, some early firmware rough edges, and ongoing Asus security concerns that make firmware updates important.

Totally unstable POS from day one and not any better than my ac66u it replaced.
Same issue persisted
AI mesh doesn't work either.
Oddly enough I beas able to get the 5300 to add as a mesh node with the 66u as the main
But not the other Way around so it's useless.
I love Asus software interface but half of it is pure BS.
Don't like the way they do the clients list either with everything jumping around, just show the list of every client and an indicator light next to each client name instead of having everything jumping around.
