Just remember, a GPU generation that is THREE YEARS OLD tomorrow is still over $700 because consumers are willing to pay over $700.

not sure if this is a deal to be honest
the 4080 super performs like 5070 TI in raw power, which has been around 750 or cheaper NEW, not to mention it support DLSS 4.

Id probably get a 5070 ti instead. Roughly the same performance and price but with newer features and its a brand new card

Community Reviews

This open box RTX 4080 Super is a high end Nvidia card best suited for strong ray tracing, DLSS, and creator or AI workloads. The comments point to faster ray tracing than a Radeon 9070 XT, solid raster performance, and useful Nvidia extras like CUDA, codecs, and frame generation. It also stands out for local AI and video encoding, though AV1 and newer features on competing cards narrow the gap for some buyers. The main hesitation is price, since it is open box and sits close to newer 5070 Ti options or a lower refurbished target.

Not for everyone, but RTX 4000 is great because it's the last generation with :
  • 32-bit PhysX support
  • Working forced AF via nVIDIA Control Panel
  • 566.36 drivers
It's certainly why I picked up a 4090 (behemoth case) and 4070 Ti Super (SFF case)

If it hasn't sold out in less than 30 minutes, then it's not a good deal. 5070 TI is a better value

Yep. The same chip in an AI accelerator could sell for $5k. Until Big Tech companies shows down in their purchases of GPU, we'll continue to see high prices.

Blame everyone else except the people with the ability the affect the price I guess. These are consumer gpus sold separately from the AI market. We set the prices and as long as people with disposable income will buy these chips for $700, they'll keep selling them. We have no one to blame but those in our community who are willing to expend this kind of money for hobbyist computer parts.

Not worth it IMO, 9070 XT at MSRP looks like a better choice - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F_60PSYQdYA
Unsure why you were down voted. Who really cares about local AI models? Also the AV1 performance on the 9070 XT is comparable to Nvidia, the older codecs aren't. The better argument would have been frame gen/DLSS support, better RT performance, and the rest of Nvidias features when you get up to this performance tier. Also this is open box and not a new card.

You're out of luck. Borderlands 4 basically has zero optimization so even on high but not top tier cards like this you will still struggle. Its less an Nvidia or AMD thing and more that because of AI upscaling tools companies have gotten complacent. People with 5080s are having issues and its clearly game-specific. You'd be best off just completing another game in the backlog while it likely gets better optimized and drops down to a more reasonable price.

So I care about AI models... You should probably avoid commenting on AI use cases.

That's not the point. If you are working with AI models you already know that VRAM is important and you probably also have the cash for the higher end Nvidia xx90 class GPUs or 6000/8000 cards. If you use it on the side then the performance difference is noticeable but ultimately still not your main usage of the card...if you are also so knowledgeable then why are you on a RTX 4000 post when Nvidia massively improved Tensor cores with 5000 series and the 5070 Ti is already recommended here as the better pick? (because it has much better TOPS)

Also I just meant that he should not be down voted for providing a viable alternative for people who may not know about it. People who use their GPUs for professional work know that AMD is the gamers' pick.

Interesting the assumptions you made here. Have you spent any time actually running models on edge devices, gaming PC's or otherwise?

Why are cards getting discounted if a RAM shortage is coming.

Anyone down voting you is not tech savvy just nvid fan boys. Simple as that. The bench test have proven over and over again that the 9070 XT is the superior card
