I believe the last couple eBay sales were around $350-$360 after discount.

Still significantly more than a $200 3S but I had paid $300 for our 3S. I returned it last night. If you are new to VR, the 3S is still pretty good but once you're used to the lenses in the 3, it's hard to go back.
I have a Samsung Odyssey two which has been good, but I like the idea of the cordless and obviously the newer stuff, and the sale prices are pretty tempting

I already have a Quest 2 I bought back when it wasn't Meta owned, why would I pay more for the same experience?

I hope you're right, but I think the Steam Frame is going to be a lot more expensive.

Costco got more in stock for delivery. So I ordered one… Not sure if I want it but locking in the price while I decide is a good thing.

paypal 20% cashback works on target. so that's 250x.2 back. then target gives 50 gift card. bestbuy has similar deal but it's easier to spend at target unless you got something you want from best buy. on second thought, it's actually 150 for me because it's 50 cash back. originally i was basing it on 200x.2. PayPal only works on target and bb, not Costco and Amazon

Steam is releasing a vr headset here soon. It will include the famous (Playstation) eye tracking that is the entire reason people prefer the old (discontinued?) Playstation one over anything else.

The eye tracking increases resolution where you are looking by at least 8x and everyone says it works and you can't see the lesser rez areas. Your PC will be effectively rendering and 2 square inches as best as it can and not a whole 4k screen at a time. Significantly (8x+) reduces processing power needs. So steam will have most of whatever these guys offer; plus the only reason people obsess over the ps2 headset + plus it's owned an tested and designed by real gamers + steam will work with games they sell to make them compatible; tho the wording implies it's mostly all going to be compatible out the box.

Steams gonna steamroll this market. Facebook and crApple making gaming peripherals is like buying a Nintinduh gaming console from dollar tree. Huge reason I didn't jump on; and I sincerely thank you for asking this cause I forgot I seen the press release last week on steam an almost jumped on this.

doubt. steam frame will be very expensive and it's not releasing for 6 months. it's going to be at least as expensive as quest 3.

It's definitely gonna play a factor. The target audience of new tech like this is people who have $1000 to gamble on a new toy that might be nothing more than a gimmick that goes straight to the drawer or display shelf or your bothers kids. So all those old headsets; are gonna end up on ebay and be in much less demand. (untill they build a new one with that tech obv)

When factoring in the cost of the headset one can eaisly factor in parts of the price of $700 gfx card or a $3000+ computer that "attempts" to run cyperpunk realistic mods. Steam is saying at least 8x the graphics power per game due to that one function previously used on a console VR headset.

The PC community still often reccomends to use the kiddy console VR headset ; with lower res, less quality screen, out of production, and possibly worse 🤒🤢🤮 the shame of telling someone you are playing with playstation products 🤣

Gabe is known to do good. I love rallying against corporations scamming people but I think Gabe is a legit old school Dungeon master and even when offered to cash in on lawsuits against steam for some b/s; I refused the free money because Gabe has not done me wrong. So other corporations who do scam people ; their management if competent will take in 3 things from this press release. Mainly Gabe is gearing up to remain at the front of; and take over the industry.

yea but we're talking about a completely different tier here. 200 vs 1000. so your evidence that the price drop is due to steam frame isn't that good. also my experience with steam hardware is that it's TERRIBLE. the steam controller was like some shit china used to make 20 years ago. so i in fact do not have high expectations for steam hardware.
