As someone who has a very similar performing (maybe identically) RG476H this is still pretty tempting. Not sure if I would hate how fat it was or love the fact it was smaller every other dimension and automatically goes to sleep when closed...maybe all of the above.

I've heard that it's quite top heavy if that matters to you.

Not much of a difference but this store is coming up as $106.53 (pretax), same coupon code. FWIW, it also appears to be an Anbernic store, just another one of their (countless) US Store Fronts.

$132.53 - $26.00 = $106.53 *says "Early bird deal" so might expire?

edit: its gone / expired now, so ignore me

Better to just get a clamp on controller for your phone, like the 8bitdo mobile. Your phone's screen, storage, speakers, security blow this thing away, and you have access to more accurate, current emulators.

I took a very indirect route to upgrade a RG406H to the RG476H as I went to a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro between them. That being said, the RG Slide still looks pretty slick, perhaps to thick but still slick.

If you liked those Sony Xperia Play phones or those T-Mobile Sidekicks from back in the day then I'm sure you'd get a "kick" out of the RG Slide, but after a while that novelty wears off. The one thing that would concern me is the viability of the sliding functionality after doing it so much over time.

I had a few slide phones in the late 2000's, really like the concept but you are right, the slide mechanism here seems pretty suspect as aggressively as snaps open and close (based on the videos at least). Many of the reviewers call the feeling "satisfying" but I see a failure point. To me there appears to be no need for it to open and close so abruptly and seemingly without any cushioning.

Still it is neat. Maybe the gen 2 will be half the thickness and have a softer open / close spring? My wishlist at least. Maybe even a smaller screen (thus smaller overall).

I don't expect there to be a second generation, but you never know w/ Anbernic since they have re-released devices before w/ a more stronger chip in it. This particular model however gives off one-time "gimmick" energy, however, the screen don't need to be anymore smaller than what it is currently, lol.
