I have the fondest memories of playing the 1997 original when it came out on ps1. It blew my mind and was cemented as one of my favorite games of all time.

I just finished up playing the Remake part 1. It is so much bloat. I like the idea of fleshing out Midgaar - but not the endless bloat to make an 8 hour section into 40 hours. They also take too much creative liberty and even change the canon story. Also unpopular opinion, I don't like the quasi active combat change. I would much rather have it be old school turn based instead of this GoW stagger smash up system with turn based spells and actions.

I agree, let the memories live in the past. I think they screwed this remake up being a bit too pretentious. I will end on a high note - the music is amazing. The battle theme still slaps hard.

Reprint? Last year a physical copy in sealed condition was fetching like $100+ on eBay.

After playing the original when it launched, I can't tell you how excited I was to finally get a proper remake with updated graphics.

This game is not very good. The combat is pretty boring, the story/dialogue is overly cringe. If you enjoyed the original, leave those memories alone.

Good game on PS5. No way near as good as the original, and the new story is jarring and a bit annoying. But damn it's beautiful, combat is fun. Music is great. Lots of tribute to the original. It's a solid 8/10 from me, and I'm a bitter curmudgeon.

Quests are basically WoW quests, and annoying.

Some combat mechanics can only be overcome with certain mechanics of your own, and you need to learn the cues.

Obligatory Chadley hate: Chadley is just the worst. I wish I could turn him off in a menu and he just disappears from the game. I don't need a fair-faced child with literally no relevance to the plot barking nerd crap to me when I'm trying to final my fantasys. He somehow gets worse in Rebirth.

Yeah, remake was a disaster. They made it open-area, many areas, and filled them all with the same exact crap. The mog houses, the OP enemies in a small brush area, collect-a-thons, escort quests...

It worked for Breath of the Wild though. Repetitive generic crap littered everywhere is somehow a game now.

And oh god the card game is so terrible. And I didn't like the new mountain battle game. I liked the retro throwbacks though.

And I want a mod where I can turn Chadley into a party member who isn't with me at the time. I'd rather have someone in the story radioing this stuff to me.

The canon events that weren't new stuff they made up were cool. The ending sucked so much, and those last battles were so hard and cheap, it killed the whole vibe for me again and again.

I honestly don't understand how they can keep their minimum for free shipping at $79 and stay in business. Most other online retailers give you free shipping over $35 or even $50 is more acceptable.I haven't bought anything from GameStop in years because of this asinine shipping requirement.

Still the best version. The PC version has a lot of stutters.

They also sell used games as new and deluxe edition games as standard and insert a code voucher.
