I hope this is helpful for others - this is what I found when I ran a quick search on "pyrex vs Bakken Borosilicate"

It looks like this is made of borosilicate glass, and moden Pyrex seems to be made from tempered soda-lime glass.

borosilicate -
- more expensive to make
- handles larger temperature chages (330 F or 160 C) without fracturing (freezer to oven)
- more brittle than soda-lime grass (can shatter more easily from drops, breaks into large sharp pieces).

soda-lime glass
- cheaper to make
- handles lower termperature changes (100 F or 40 C)
- handles mechanical impact (drops) better - less likely to break and breaks into smaller blunt pieces.

Starting from tomorrow Costco will have sale on 18 piece snapware Pyrex storage set. I think it's $20 after $5 coupon. Not sure how they both compare but worth checking .

28 if you count the plastic back wrapping that around the package of containers. I'm sorry my ADD wouldn't allow me to not respond.

Instant Brands Snapware made in U.SA. Great customer service. Lifetime warranty which they stand behind. Glass pieces are pyrex soda lime. The lids fit both glass and polypropylene bases. Their nesting 1 cup square is great for meal prep. No longer a fan of Rubbermaid Brilliance.
Asian borosilicate glass is nothing like the old U.S.A. stuff. We've got 60 year old Fire-KIng pieces still in use

The $19.99 price (in-warehouse) on the Pyrex set at Costco runs Nov 17th - Dec 21st 2025, and similar sales come around every few months. For me, that's more tempting.

did they think by using ounces instead of cups like literally every other container maker, they could trick people? these are very VERY tiny. the largest size is 4 cups. the pictures say it all. the largest size barely fits a piece of chicken. this is not a slick deal.
