This Quest 3S bundle stands out as a low-cost way to get into Meta VR, especially for Quest exclusives, mixed reality games, and the included year of Horizon+. The price can drop to $199 in cart, and the subscription adds a steady stream of redeemable games and store discounts. Costco's return policy and price adjustment window add some comfort. The main cautions are the fresnel lenses, which are blurrier than Quest 3's pancake lenses, and the 3S's weaker fit for productivity or long media sessions. A solid entry point if gaming is the priority.

This. Quest 3s performance is pretty much the same as the Q2. I too am hoping for a deal on the 3.
That's not quite true. The lens are the same as the quest 2 but the CPU and GPU are the same as the quest 3. So the games run the pretty much the same. That being said, the lenses in the quest 3 are substantially better. So that makes a sharper image.

Are these VR headsets worth it or will they just end up collecting dust?
Yes. Have many of them from a decade, from $3000+ to 300$. All are in dust collecting mode.

I try to post this helpful info when I see sales. (Refurbs may not get the free game or activation credit).

If you don't like the "free" games of the month you can hold off activating Meta+ for 3 months.

Games claimed for "free" through the subscription are only accessible with an active subscription.

$30 credit for those that use a friend link prior to device setup (it's a ban-able offense on SD to post/request such links but check Reddit)

ALL SALES ARE TARGETED meaning they could offer 50% off to one account and no sale for another.

When buying games check for developer links to save a flat 15-20% when there is no active sale on the game.

You're going to want a better strap and there's 2 or 3 great options for under $100. Some have hot swap batteries.(examples kiwi, globular, boboVR)

If you have glasses or a stigmatism there are snap on prescription lenses for $20 on sites or $50 direct from Meta.

The max credit you can attain per year is $599 (anything $600+ is taxable)

The 4th gen headset is expected 2026/2027

There's free 3rd party software like OcularMigraine that improves visuals at the cost of battery life. Others like Quest Games Optimizer have a price associated along with permissions.

The games with PCVR need the Meta app for PC and many others recommend Virtual Desktop when on sale.

You do not need to link FB/IG to your account can use a normal email account.

If you mess up the $30 link you have 7 days to click a $30 link and factory reset your headset and go through initial setup to get it. Otherwise you need a good bit of personal info from the other person for support to process it. Sometimes there's a promo for $60 credit so check the app.

I'm sure there is info I forgot like there's no crossbuy and if you see it that means it gives you a Meta PC copy you need the app to play.

360 videos through the YouTube app are not true 4K and should be downloaded to view uncompressed.

Rechargeable batteries for the controllers are a must as they take 1 AA each.

Activate 2 factor authentication and set a pin for purchases to minimize accidents. There is a small return window for purchases but YMMV with support.

Those with GeForceNow can use it with the headset but the experience is not amazing yet.

Do NOT expose headset or lenses to direct or reflected sunlight (use a cover)

If you owned a Quest2 and purchase a Quest3 you may still be able to get the $30 activation credit.

Do NOT leave the headset charging for hours unsupervised or with 3rd party plugs/cables

Always read reviews as Most Recent and check online for in depth reviews.

I've accidentally punched my headset during a vr workout and thankfully it was fine but mind your surroundings.

Meta+ is not needed to use the headset (my 3 month trial ran out)

Only use a dry microfiber cloth to clean your lenses or risk removing the anti glare coating

Batman game extended through December 2026

I own a Quest 3
Thank you

Umm.. why can't you charge the Meta 3S headset for hours unsupervised? I'd expect most charging late at night or during the day expect their house to not burn down.
Put in fireproof box (lid open) and yolo , just my first thought

How does the return policy work on this? I'm worried about getting nauseous while playing. If I decide to return the set, but already activated the Horizon subscription, will they did deducting the cost of the subscription from my refund?
FWIW, I got motion sick when first playing. I don't anymore. We used to call it getting your 'VR legs' but that was back in the rift days. I also don't get carsick anymore so that was an unexpected bonus.

At this price, it makes sense to buy just for the Quest exclusives and Mixed Reality games while saving most of your money for a Steam Frame later.
Was hoping to have an idea of price on the Frame by now

Thank you for proving my point. Who cares if the games run pretty much the same ... if the optics are the same as the previous generation of headsets (Quest 2). The 3s is an outlier. It just does not make sense unless you consider that META released it to replace the Quest 2.

Here is a comparison of the optical differences between the Q2 and Q3s:

https://vr-compare.com/compare?h1...=pDTZ02PkT

Can you spot the differences? There are none ... other than the Dual RGB passthrough cameras.

The Quest 3s is basically the Quest 2.

Non VR games. Is it like you are sitting in front of a large TV screen or do the games fill up each lens? Wondering about this same concern with the newest Steam VR.
I am addicted to watching 4K movies, it's akin to watching movies in a movie theater, get Skybox VR app and you can throw your TV away
