This Quest 3S bundle stands out as a low-cost way to get into Meta VR, especially for Quest exclusives, mixed reality games, and the included year of Horizon+. The price can drop to $199 in cart, and the subscription adds a steady stream of redeemable games and store discounts. Costco's return policy and price adjustment window add some comfort. The main cautions are the fresnel lenses, which are blurrier than Quest 3's pancake lenses, and the 3S's weaker fit for productivity or long media sessions. A solid entry point if gaming is the priority.

If just learning why isn't this sufficient? The processor should be the same and if developing you only have to look at it long enough to test.
The 3 has higher res and better lenses. After some research, even the 3 may not have enough definition for sustained productivity sessions.

Meta just doubled their referral amount from $30 to $60 each way for the holidays! Both people get $60 in credit by referring!

(Accept referrals before logging into the headset. If you already did, you can still factory reset for 1 week post activation and referral will go through)

Can we cash out this credit?
And can we claim it even while purchasing from Costco?

No, it's only usable on the quest store. (iirc most quest games also give you a copy that works on pc too that you could stream to the headset, no not steam sadly)
And yes, the referral is done through the account. Has nothing to do with Costco.

Ive had the 2, 3, and now 3s. And yeah I still wouldn't really use it for productivity. Text is definitely more clear on the 3, but not clear enough imo to compare it to a laptop or monitor.

I never owned vr before and just want to ask if watching movies or some Korean dramas would be fun? If not productivity then what other usage it fits perfectly from your pov?

Yeah you could watch movies on it, but tbh I still would say the 3s isn't the best in quality because of the resolution and fresnel lenses. I honestly would watch things on my phone over the headset just because it's OLED instead of LCD, but I'm picky when it comes to that stuff, and maybe it's plenty good for you. I mainly use my headset to play games like beat saber. But you can do whatever you want with it. Plenty of options for games, media consumption, and productivity.

Picked one up today, seems like a good deal with the 1yr subscription and $60 credit. No batman as far as I can tell.

Thanks for asking. I'll quote the relevant section of the rules thread:

Does the horizon sub come as a separate code or something? Or auto with the device like Batman?

Been using the Quest 3a the past couple of nights, this is my 1st time with anything VR, here's a few thoughts:

1. I tried watching VR stuff with the built-in Youtube app on the Quest and got SEVERE motion sickness/vertigo the first night, had to lay-down and close my eyes. I never get motion sickness so this was a first. 2nd night was a little better but still got vertigo, gonna try a bit every night to get used to it.
2. The damn fresnel lens is blurry and probably a deal breaker even at the discounted $200 price. Get eye strain from using it.
3. Best thing I've done with the Quest 3a is stream 3-D movies from Plex, that is farking cool. But still, the fresnel lens makes it difficult to enjoy the movie and don't think I can watch 2 hrs straight with the fresnel lens and stock Quest headstrap.
