This was $125 on sale a few months ago and it was a great price then. Wonderful gimbal with an extension, tripod mount, and the fact it does face tracking without having to have their app open. That function doesn't work great in crowds but for small groups it does really well.

How does this compare with OM8 ? Wonderful whether I should wait for a sale on OM8.

As an Android user, it seems as if the Insta360 Flow 2 is a better choice because it plays nicer with the Samsung native camera app.

Otherwise, you're stuck recording at 30 fps on the Mimo app, from my understanding.

This works with native phone app. You don't have to use Mimo

The OM8 just came out, so you're waiting several months for it to go on sale.

Do you need 360 degree coverage with the OM8? If not then the om7 is good.

If you are an iPhone user, there are a few improvements on that side of things and as noted by someone else the 360 aspects, but otherwise it looks to be minor updates with connections and weight/balance.
I do not have experience with the OM8, just what I'm finding online.

Yes, because the 7P has an extension rod, which is much better for videos of yourself and the phone not being right in your face. I use this when running.
Beyond that, the AI tracker as mentioned is a great feature, but it's more than just that, since it allows you to do face tracking outside of the Mimo app but also acts as a connector if you have the DJI microphones as well as Apple Watch control and more.

Not familiar with the Flow 2 but I would go 7P over the 7 for sure, especially with Apple Watch control and other similar options that they do for the Apple infrastructure.

As an Android user, I find those features intriguing but I can still do what I need without them.

I don't know about the OM8 but Amazon has returns until Jan 31 2026 so you can buy and if later you get a better deal then return ( Amazon does not do price match)

Incorrect information. This gimbal does not need the MIMO app. You can record with any app or the native camera app of Google

I have the osmo mobile se. I'm waiting for this version to drop a little bit more so I could have the integrated tripod. I think the tracker that's external to whatever device is cool. But to be honest I'm going to be filming on my phone so I'll just use the app.

FYI/FWIW, I bought this on the 18th, received the package on the 19th. The seal on the box was cut, and all the accessories were clearly removed and returned to the box. I complained via chat, Amazon granted a replacement. Sent that one back, received the replacement on the 20th. The package was in a plastic bag like it had been repackaged, and the seal on the box was cut. I checked the contents, everything looked like it had been handled, stickers/labels pulled off and returned to the box. Missing the charging cable. I complained via chat, Amazon refunded me $33.
