Picked this up a year ago when Woot was booting them out for $69.99 w/magnetic hanging strap. It is a nice size useful meter and of course a Fluke. I have compared its accuracy to a Craftsman, and a KAIWEETS Digital Multimeter TRMS, and even a super cheap Harbor Freight, and they all agree within a few hundredths of the voltage measured. I think the Kaiweets True RMS was my best buy @ $18 w/coupon, but it is fun to own a real Fluke.

A quick search gives:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/FLUKE.../327627725
and as mentioned buying through shopmyexchange.com says 10% and is tax free for Mil/Vets at HD.

Free/cheap Harbor Freight meter is good enough for use around the house. Go with Fluke 87 or Brymen BM525 for modern auto and other precision works. A pro would also need a digital storage scope for data analysis.

I don't think this is true RMS. If I catch a 117/116 on sale I'm buying in a heartbeat.

For those wondering if fluke is worth the price- this will be the last multimeter you need to get. This thing will survive long enough to give to your grandkids. Additionally, it's accuracy is second to none. If you just need to see where ~12v is vs. 120v or what wire is hot - any harbor freight or off brand multimeter will do. If you need accuracy and want to ensure safety even if you stick the leads where they don't belong - fluke is the way. It will give readings you can trust, very accurately. It will handle the voltages it reports (and much more) without worry to safety. You will never need to think "is this value correct?" When reading micro electronics. Whereas a generic meter can have you guessing and buying a few parts extra "just in case".

There are dozens of fluke models. Future proof yourself by picking a model that does everything you need + more. Some are oriented for electricians, some for telecom work, some for high power etc. that's my only gripe with fluke - too many great choices lol.
True RMS is necessity for me though.
That used to be the case, but times have changed. They have models that are manufactured in China, and no longer claim lifetime warranty/support across the board. You have to do research and spend a lot of money to get that confidence level that fluke will back their product. These expensive entry-level products are disposable to them.

Same. I got a kaiweets for less than $20 years ago and has been my go-to since it's accurate enough for my purposes and if it does fail one day then I'm not breaking the bank to replace.

I want a fluke one day, but a real fluke made in USA with full lifetime backing/support from Fluke, and this meter doesn't have that

$40 at Lowe's in the clearance isle. YMMV.

Entry level into a professional range of multimeters that are revered for their precision. Higher models in this range sell for way into the thousands of dollars.

...but yes, an $8 Harbor Freight meter has the same functionality as this one.
At least for a while.

Entry level only? original price over $100? any extra special function other than Harbor Freight one?

My brain just exploded ... someone comparing a Fluke MM to a Harbor Freight/Chinese knockoff. What has the world come to?

Fluke is made in China. Take a look at the back label...

Fluke are so deluded from all those government contracts to think that they can sell Chinese MM for over $80 and call it a promo.

I like this one better:

https://www.amazon.com/Fluke-KIT-...hlbWF0aWM=

will this pick up the low voltage generated by your heart? My old Radioshack meter from like the late 1990s-early 2000s picks up this low voltage. The Klein meter doesn't.... lol

As a hobbyist who always used cheaper brands, is spending the money on a Fluke worth it?

I've got something in my front pocket for you
Why don't you reach on in my pocket and see what it is?
There, grab onto it, it's just for you
Give it the correct settings and see what your voltage is

Great deal on this pocket sized Fluke. To get the deal price I had to go to the "other sellers on Amazon" and choose "Amazon".
