Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

Anyone else's purchases hanging out in the authorization mode? Up til today I'd usually see my points instantly but my two purchases today have been stuck in authorization
Yeah, BB yesterday was instant and Home Depot today just saying points pending. but not showing the points. Saying waiting for Authorization. kind of weird.

People don't seem to realize that ChatGPT or "asking Google" isn't an authoritative source on anything, even when it isn't hallucinating. What Paypal wants or intends to say with its wording isn't something that can be decisively inferred, only clarified by Paypal itself. They could add something like "$250 combined total across all purchases per account" or just "$250 max cashback/points per account".

And I've read that eligibility line countless times and I'm still unsure what the intention is. Especially since some people have hit a $250 cap while others haven't. The normal 5% deal supposedly had the cap.
See my posts. There are 2 caps - individual purchases each with a cap and then global of all members' purchases combined with a cap.

Do you actually see the points value or a generic points pending message?
I actually started seeing the points after few hours.

is this working. I had something in bestbuy's cart and was at the checkout with pay-in-4, and now it disappeared. it says payin4 unavailable. Does this work with monthly?

What do you make of the line I quoted, then?
"During the Special Offer Period, Eligible Participants will earn Points equivalent to 20% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases up to $1,250 spent."
Makes no sense that they'd explicitly state that you can either get 20% on up to $1250 across one or several purchases, unless there was a hard $1250 limit per Participant.
It makes sense they would say one or MORE purchases up to $1,250 because it's not limited to a single spend of $1250. So purchases up to $1250 spend is per purchase. That's how I read it and AI apparently did as well based on its response to the whole terms text.

Edit: I decided to run that one line through ChatGPT and this is what it said (agreeing with me):

That line looks confusing at first glance, but when you parse it using contract-style reading rules, it still supports that the $1,250 limit applies per purchase, not per participant.

I read it literally… you can earn it on one (if you only make one) or more (if you make more) purchases up to $1250 (each).
Correct, you read it the same as me. And I followed up with AI, and it agrees.

Plus that fits with the other line I quoted from the terms, which is even more clear on the matter:

Exact words " For each Eligible Purchase, each Eligible Participant will receive a maximum of 25000 Points, which can be redeemed for $250 cash or other options (the "Reward") per Eligible Purchase."

The actual points for the purchases shows pretty much right away for me, except for the two that werecanceled by Walmart, which never did show a number for points and still hasn't cleared out.

Made two purchases using PayIn4. Then tried to make a third and the only option is Monthly. My credits are frozen and got denied. Now, Monthly and 4 is not an option, even when I tried purchasing the same item I did when I first paid with PayIn4. Same retailer.

Has anyone used this one Lowe's? I'm at the end of the checkout and there is a button for "Pay with PayPal" but I'm after which I can select the credit card but am wondering if this will just complete payment or take me to the screen where I can select the 4 payment option?

Update: found a site that says Lowe's doesn't accept it. Nuts.

Did you pay off the balance first? If you run out of spending power, you can only use the Monthly option.

Be careful, after I pressed the option link card, it was showing a processing sign and then the page went blank. It happens so often for all paypal popups, I was dumb and did it four times. By the time I went to a different device/browser I was denied for too many attempts. Am I done? Or will the pay in 4 option show up again eventually? Does the pay monthly option get the same reward?

I am in the same prerogative. my case is stupid bestbuy. so I got authorization for pay in 4 with bestbuy but did not place the order right away. i browsed away from the bestbuy page (still open) and then went back to purchase, and the payin4 disappeared as an option. the temp transaction is showing up under paypal activity. i talked to them to take that temporary off, but still cannot pick payin4. now, the agent says the 20% works with PAY MONTHLY, but I do not know if it is pulling my leg. Does anyone know if PAY MONTHLY will show the pending points or not?

by the way, this is what the terms say, so not sure you get 20% on every transaction up to 1250 per transaction. This seems more like on max 1250/

During the Special Offer Period, Eligible Participants will earn Points equivalent to 20% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases up to $1,250 spent.
