Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

I just bought a laptop using the pay per month because it was too much for the 4 no interest payments. Can I immediately pay this off to avoid the interest or do I have to wait for the points to apply? It's pending right now.

hey there.. those were the good ole days. But it was that $99 HP touchpad that got me started on flipping stuff. So I can't get too upset about gaming the system, still stickin' it to the man. Peace and Love!Cool
You can still get the Samsung A9+ tablet for $20 at Metro. But I believe the touchpad was the longest thread ever on Slickdeals. I still have the Lumia 635 Windows phone I used on Ringplus.

I'm still trying to find out why at all these merchants that offer Paypal, not one of them offers me a 'Pay Later' option.

Only thing I can think of is when I added the offer to my Rewards, I had all my credit frozen at all 3 credit bureaus. Then when I decided to try the offer, I unfroze all of them.

I would think it would check with your credit when you went to use it. Would it check when you put offer in your acct in Rewards? If so then that would make sense as to why I'm not getting the offer.

I called Paypal to see if they knew why I couldn't get any Pay Later offers at any merchants and only thing they could come up with is maybe a restriction on my acct. I should have none. I owe nothing, have excellent credit and a zero balance in Paypal.

This guy was from overseas. I asked him if he could check my acct and see if any restrictions and he said he wouldn't know. I asked if anyone would know and he said that info. isn't available to Paypal. Do what? lol.

I will once again call Paypal tomorrow.
What Credit Card you are using through your PayPal account? Certain CCs do not not allow (Ex. Capital One Venture that I was trying) 'Pay Later' through Paypal. So, you need to change your CC.

Does it show the number of points with your pending? If so, you should be able to safely pay it off. If no number shows, then it might be delayed or having an issue, which is what happened to my immediately canceled Walmart transactions. They show as pending, with no point total for them vs. my successful Pay in 4 transactions, which I later paid off two out of three immediately.

It showed up for me when I only had a bank account that could be used for it, but it also let me add a card on that screen AFTER I had chosen the Pay in 4 option. So, the option should still show and allow you to add a payment method if you don't currently have an allowed CC. Discovered worked, my bank works, Chase doesn't work.

Yup, it shows in the transaction itself as having pending points.
31875 points pending

But when I go to rewards, it doesn't show anything yet.
Edit: Actually I now see

Looks like I am safe to pay it off?

It's a good deal... eventually... we have to wait up to 90 days before we see any rewards in our balance.

Thanks. I tried all cards in my Paypal. Do you have to use a credit card in order to get in on this deal? I've tried making my bank the preferred card in Paypal and also 2 debit cards from 2 different banks

But if this needs to have a non-Chase credit card set as preferred, then that's my issue for sure. All I have are 5 Chase cards.

ETA: I just tried a credit card from a different bank that isn't Chase and still I can't get Pay Later to show up. I just remembered about the card. At least I ruled that out as being the issue. It has to be some restriction they have on my acct in Paypal or having all my cards frozen when I put the deal in my Rewards acct was an issue. All my cards are listed as unfrozen. They were unfrozen as soon as I changed them from Frozen so that was immediate.

How much was the item to yield 31875 points? It was pay later monthly, not pay in 4?

No, that's not the issue. My Chase card was always my preferred card and still is. My checking account was an option to use, and after clicking Pay in 4, I had the option to add my Discover card, which is what I used for Pay in 4 (Chase doesn't show within Pay in 4).

Chase cards don't work with this promo. You need Amex, BoA etc. Also are you sure you activated/saved the offer first? If all you have is chase then you might be SOL.

The reason you remove your PayPal from sites your trying to purchase is cause, sites usually save you preferred payment for faster checkout which is why I said you need to remove it completely and relink it so you can set your preferred payment type again like Pay in 4 etc

They said it was monthly, that's why they want to pay it off early and avoid interest.

My answer would be yes. In fact, I did it with 2 of my Pay in 1 purchases, even though I wasn't saving any interest, just to get them paid off early. Points still show for those transactions.

Thanks. That helps. I'm going to make my Chase my preferred card again then. Weird that all I'm getting is credit offers and no Pay Laters.

Upon checkout, Home Depo has a button for Paypal. It states underneath it: Pay in 4 interest-free payments of $XXX.XX with Paypal. I clicked and I didn't get any Pay Laters. I got credit offers that charge some interest to use.
