11/26/2025 10:28am PST Update: This is now limited to ONE transaction, with 20% rewards back up to $1,250. Paypal email memo notes that the promotion for spend on multiple transactions prior to the notification will be honored.
Walmart:
1) you have to make sure Paypal is not a saved method of payment in your wallet. If so, go into your account and remove it
2) When you are in checkout, uncheck the box that says Remember Paypal as a payment option.

Yes I realize pending points are showing but my guess is they a pending precisely because it will be fixed later. But who knows maybe people will get lucky.
At any rate, getting 5% back is still not bad. Although Chase freedoms have 5% back starting Dec 1, this is available now and this actually stacks with CC points. Eg the BoA 3% online + this is 8% back.
Now a question I have is how returns work. Does it count as a repayment of the loan? If I didn't have enough to buy, personally I'd go for something returnable rather than a gift card if I wanted to maximize the benefit. But safest would be to return something with gift receipt for store credit.
The reason you remove your PayPal from sites your trying to purchase is cause, sites usually save you preferred payment for faster checkout which is why I said you need to remove it completely and relink it so you can set your preferred payment type again like Pay in 4 etc

I just checked my CCR and it shows my bonus tracker going from 0 to $2500 once all the purchases posted. (AFTER the credits added to my total statement balance) When I click on them, it says misc./specialty stores and online Y. Fingers crossed.
My spending power still hasn't returned, this might be it. I still have more things I need to purchase and I wait too long they might end up OOS.

Issue has to be with Paypal having some restriction on my acct. or it has to do with me having frozen accts with all credit bureaus and unfreezing them all today. Perhaps maybe even though all accts are showing as unfrozen now, it actually may take 24 hours to go in effect. lol
I'm going to talk with Paypal tomorrow and I'll ask for a supervisor and maybe someone can figure out what the deal is. I have no reasons to have any restrictions on my acct.
