Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

I just bought a laptop using the pay per month because it was too much for the 4 no interest payments. Can I immediately pay this off to avoid the interest or do I have to wait for the points to apply? It's pending right now.
Wait, can you get the points for an item.over $1500 by doing monthly?

Anyone had their pay in 4 or pay monthly purchase declined? Going to try a lower purchase amount. How long does it show up again once declined?
lol Of course, this thread is filled with those comments of it either declining or just disappearing. Heck, I've had Pay in 4 disappear and come back within 5 hours after a successful purchase, then taking more like 15 hours after the next purchase before the option returned. But once I got immediate cancellations from Walmart and got the PayPal unusual activity message for reattempting my order, it's been a couple days, and Pay in 4 never returned to this point. PayPal wouldn't remove those that are stuck in "Pay in 4 Authorization", so I'm waiting to see if they clear in 72 hours, which will be tomorrow.

If it's available to you, you should be able to, but points are limited to the first $1250 at 20% for a purchase. But Pay in 4 itself has a $1500 limit per transaction, so that's where that comes from.

I was trying to do this to buy a TV from LG. Total comes to like $1927.

Can I get 20% back (capped at $250) if I do the pay monthly?

If it lets you do the Pay Monthly without rejection. If it works, the number of points pending will show in your Paypal account and will show 20%.

I think PayPal is really dumb here. Why tie the promotion to some dumb system that might or might not work like pay monthly or payin4? I kind of understand the pay monthly as they might make it back in interest, but any sane person would just pay that off after making the purchase and not incur any interest just to earn the cashback. They don't get anything out of this payin4 thing. Playing games on who and how many transactions can someone have or change stuff just like the wind blows, and who makes and cancels orders is just nonsense. It would be just easier if they earmark a certain amount of cash for this promo, and be done and over with when funds run out. they will get a tax write-off anyway. Another thing could have been to limit transactions per person to like 2 or a certain amount.
The whole point of this discount is that they want people to try Pay in 4. Ideally, they will see how easy it is to spread their purchase out and use it in the future. If you don't know how it works, bnpl vendors like PayPal or Klarna charge merchants about 5% to have this checkout option available. That's how they make money on it when they aren't charging you interest. Merchants accept this fee because data shows people buy more overall when this checkout option is available.

Anyone know for sure the limitations of this? Can you do multiple $1250 purchases and accrue multiple 25K in points for each of them?

Or are you limited to just 1 time $1250 then any dollar past that rewards the regular 5% cash back which also has limitation of up to $5000?

Please and thank you

Perfectly understandable, but if they get into this idiotic appear and disappear, cancel and deny then it will leave a sour taste in many people's mouths. Why not just tie this whole cashback thing on payin4 and cap it to some amount that is not so ambiguous. It would just make people strategize on what to spend and call it a day. It is just turning into a big debacle.
