Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

Based on that, as long as the purchase was before today, multiple purchases should still be eligible for the advertised 20%, whether or not it was your first purchase.
Sounds like it to me. The real winners are the kids that went hog wild w/ 20% off gift cards unless they get retroactively clawed back.

Got a purchase from this am before I received the email and it shows 20% pending in order. Made 2 other purchase a few days ago and paid them off next day and point totals for those showing 20%. Paypal dropped the ball on this one and was gonna cost them big time. Butttttt orginal wording was vague and read like purchase until Dec. 8 with cap of 1,250 on any one purchase, not total purchases.

That's the one place PP could recoup since they stated that "stored value cards" didn't qualify in the previous terms.

That would be just my luck considering my Pay Later option disappeared for me days ago and didn't show again until earlier today, and after one $800+ order, I've taken my time thinking about what to order next.

EDIT UPDATE:

I just got the email. They are updating the terms retroactively after I already made purchase today and saying I hit my limit. And only limited to one purchase per customer. So, that means my big purchase today won't be covered at all.

This is the worst news.
seems your AI may have misinterpreted.... keep that in mind next time you blindly trust an LLM.

When do we have to pay off by in order to avoid interest and still meet the terms? Can we do it immediately?
I see the first of 4 payments is already pending on my cc and the PayPal points are pending too.
Pretty sure it's interest fee?

I was just planning on letting it run and have my CC get charged in the 4 installments... figured it was a safer way to make sure I get the pts.

And got some pretty good deals out of this, including a 55" LG C5 for <750 (with all cashbacks included). Was considering a PS5, but I guess I missed my window on that one.

I earned over the $250 limit in 20% but figured they would just adjust it before it posted. The email they just sent... Could honestly be read either way, that they're honoring their mistakes or they're gonna fix it, claw back overages. Guess I'll wait and see.

For those who already used this, how do you know if the cashback was successful?
I just placed an order with Samsung for a Q990D system, with Paypal Pay Later, 4 Pay option using credit card
Pay in 4 showed up, and Samsung order showed up on my Paypal account. The Samsung order shows "Points Pending", but points still showing 0 for now. Added this offer earlier today and this is my first order.

"I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further."

New terms do say one purchase but it seems like they upped it to $20 million (2 billion points from 1.5 billion before) to last longer.

I still see this, however...

At least I learned to always check spending power and to never even attempt Paypal Checkout unless I can follow through because Paypal penalizes you for it. And that if you receive any kind of denial, you're probably done for the season. Next year if there's a promo I'll be better prepared.
Oh People are getting fired right now at PP...doubt we will ever see a promo again like this

I still wonder if this wasn't a typo gone too far ..2% LOL

Seems like they will honor the 20% if done multiple times prior to today.

Thank you for being a part of our limited-time Buy Now Pay Later holiday promotion. We're so happy you've been able to take advantage of it. You've reached the limit on this offer given our new terms, which can be found here.

Any eligible PayPal Pay Later transactions you made before today will receive the benefit of the original offer terms. You can check the status of any pending points in the rewards hub of the PayPal app.

I thought $250 back was the limit per account, which can only be earned on one purchase rather than across multiple.Maybe it was $250 per transaction and not per account?
That's still unheard of ! Gotta realize PP is 100% shouldering this not the merchants
