Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

I just talked to Martin from Paypal over the phone. He wasn't sure if the $1250 was total spend or single transaction. He was honest and said he'd rather be slow with the truth than fast with a lie... so he reached out to that department. He got back to me and said that it is a transactional cap. I confirmed with him by saying "so I can keep spending and getting 20% since I'm already well over $1,250 across multiple transactions" to which he replied "yes".

Even though he was confident, I called back and solicited yet another rep's thoughts. They transferred me to the approrpriate department and Jane echoed what Martin had said. It's a transactional limit, not a total spend cap. She said the cap for total transactions is $5,000.

FWIW, I also ran it through Perplexity (yet another LLM that you may or may not have tried) and it also spit out that same result -- $1,250 cap of getting the full 20% per transaction; aggregate cap is $5,000.

From Perplexity...
hahaha
what happened to your friend Martin?
You feel extra smart today dontcha?

Seems like they will honor the 20% if done multiple times prior to today.

Thank you for being a part of our limited-time Buy Now Pay Later holiday promotion. We're so happy you've been able to take advantage of it. You've reached the limit on this offer given our new terms, which can be found here.

Any eligible PayPal Pay Later transactions you made before today will receive the benefit of the original offer terms. You can check the status of any pending points in the rewards hub of the PayPal app.
Agreed..

Nice of them to honor their likely oversight.

For those who already used this, how do you know if the cashback was successful?I just placed an order with Samsung for a Q990D system, with Paypal Pay Later, 4 Pay option using credit cardPay in 4 showed up, and Samsung order showed up on my Paypal account. The Samsung order shows "Points Pending", but points still showing 0 for now. Added this offer earlier today and this is my first order.

At least I learned to always check spending power and to never even attempt Paypal Checkout unless I can follow through because Paypal penalizes you for it. And that if you receive any kind of denial, you're probably done for the season. Next year if there's a promo I'll be better prepared.
I was pre-approved and went through the entire checkout procedure on Sunday 4 or 5 times because I kept getting denied and I kept getting denied because my credit cards weren't good anymore. They weren't EXPIRED (dates were next year) but new cards had been sent and thus the stored cards @ Paypal were no longer valid and thus my orders kept getting denied. Pay in 4 then totally disappeared @ checkout @ Home Depot. The AI telephone crap was WORTHLESS (never could talk to someone) so got on chat and the CSR said too many attempts were made and to give it a couple of days and it would show back up.

It showed back Monday afternoon so placed the orders @ HD and were delivered yesterday with full points pending.

Reading it again (why do I waste my time I probably read it in more detail than PayPal staff), it doesn't explicitly clarify the previous terms lol. It could be that the "change" is from up to $1250 across multiple purchases to the single purchase up to $1250. They definitely reserve the right to change pending points. But one would think that they'd have changed the pending points at the same time they change the terms.

Anyway good luck to all. Legendary promo in SD land.

I guess we found out who was right about the $1250 total limit, and who was wrong. I guess certain common sense parameters are hard for some to understand...

New terms do say one purchase but it seems like they upped it to $20 million (2 billion points from 1.5 billion before) to last longer.

I still see this, however...

I checked 15 minutes ago and this was gone on my account, but now it's back on it. I hadn't hit $250 across $1250 in orders. Anyone still got it and made an order and getting the bonus points?
