Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

This is literally what the original offer said. The offer has been modified since it originally came out to limit it to one purchase, but the original language from a week or so ago was pretty unambiguous that it was a "per purchase" deal. Read the original language, not the new modified one. I, and many other SDers here have the pending points to prove it.
Ive been referring to the original promo, not the new one. Look at the first page of this thread, check whatever you want, you guys never proved anything you just tried to make it seem ambiguous and one guy said a customer service rep said $5000. That was pretty much the only proof you have. Someone who really doesnt even work for paypal but a call center. It was capped at 1250 total and specifically said so. They changed it to one purchase, because some people make sure we can never have nice things

I was literally in the process of checking out, made one change to my cart, and the pay in 4 option disappeared. Now there is only the pay monthly with a huge interest charge.

Damnit.
I'm in the same boat. Clicked back to check my cart after going through pay 4 and now they placed a preauth under pay 4 and won't show the pay 4 option anymore. PP chat says it rolls off in 72 hrs, by that time the deal or the PayPal promo itself may be gone. Doh!

And just as a data point for people: I received the email earlier today saying I hit the limit. Made another purchase just now with pay in 4, and I have no points showing up for the purchase, unlike every other time I got something earlier in the deal. So yeah, if your offer says "Completed, you did it!" on it, it doesn't mean that you get one more purchase, it means it's dead for you.
Hmm earlier this morning, several users reported getting points for subsequent orders even after receiving the completion email

I think this is it; this might be a good indicator. it's simple: if it says completed, you have zero. if not, you have one.

still, I wouldn't give the system overnight to turn your status into completed.
For others, another thing is that PayPal rewards show as pending within 2–14 days of purchase and move to completed after 60–90 days once the merchant confirms the transaction and no returns or refunds occur.

Yup had a soft inquiry for pay in 4 before sh**ty PayPal took it away. Does pay monthly have a similar soft check or hard pull? does anyone know
I believe monthly is a hard inquiry

Did they have the offer show "completed" in the app?

Mine now says one purchase but doesn't say complete. I wonder if I can use it one more time even though the email said future purchases would be at regular promotion which is 5%.

I do wonder how they paid their taxes with it. At least where I live, My taxes are > $1500, so they wouldn't have qualified for the promotion, and there was no way to split the payment up with the county to get it under the limit. A moot point at this point (I didn't even realize my tax appraiser accepted PayPal).
you actually would've gotten 20% on the full amount because it seems they weren't even limiting to $1250 per transaction...

As a counterpoint, I used PayPal on Aliexpress on 11/24 and had no issue, so it's not "all". This was a Bank of America card

When do you pay the interest for the pay monthly plan? For instance, if you pay in full before the first payment, do you still pay interest for the whole thing?
No, like I said in a couple posts above, interest is calculated daily and no penalty for early payoff. It's in their terms for their pay later in general, not just 20%.

So i received the email, i had made a few purchases already but they were still below the $250 supposed cap, on my account despite receiving the email my rewards was still available.

Just a few minutes ago i made another purchase, and now the rewards page says completed. It does say there are pending points on that most recent purchase so hopefully i get that.

No inquirees showing on my account for either, and I've never used it or PayPal credit in the past.

As mentioned often, the $1250 was a transaction tape.

The new terms made it so you only had 1 transaction, up to $1250. So one and done beginning today for the 20% rewards.

I got the email today that they have ended my eligibility for the promotion, with my existing orders being covered. I placed ~$570 worth over 2 orders on the promo. I'm guessing they got way more engagement than they expected, and they had to limit the damage it'll cause to their margins, lol.

Edit: If it seems like everyone is getting "one more" usage of this promo, I may still make one more purchase to see if I get the 20% one last time.
