Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

I just bought an appliance deal from home depot using this - I did not have pay later available but did have pay monthly, and was approved for it, so did the 6 months option w/ plan to pay it in full in a day or two when the points showed. The purchase shows in my paypal app activity section with a note of "points pending" and the transaction says "Authorization in progress".

If I click on the transaction there is a note: "this is a temporary authorization to make sure your payment method will cover the requested amount. Your payment method will be charged when your transaction is completed". Then under rewards it does show pending points (though no specific amount) and the 20% cashback on one pay laer purchase with paypal as "Pending".

What has me a bit concerned is "authorization in progress" and if that means its still waiting on the merchant (hd) to confirm. These appliance aren't scheduled for delivery until Dec 4th. Is it likely that home depot won't complete the transaction until the delay of delivery - which would likely be too late? Or am I still fine?
This is normal, once HD finalizes the transactions the points will show. I don't think HD will wait until the 4th but even if they do, the date of the transaction is in your account with points pending. As long as that pending chage doesn't disappear should be fine.

Transaction has to be marked completed before the promo expires. I learned that the hard way when they changed the terms. Dont expect PayPal to honor anything past the deadline for completion

I just did this now, and the points are only showing for one of the purchases. Plus, the amount itself is less than it should be. Did they count tax and shipping as well in the point total?
The promo applies to only a single purchase going off of the new terms.

I mean technically you haven't learned the hard way as the promo hasn't ended yet. Yes the terms say pending transactions won't qualify, however HD's supplier should accept this persons order tomorrow or monday so should be fine. Whether they'll invalidate points on pending transactions that clear soon after remains to be seen.

Can you pay off the next 3 installments using a different card that the one initially used? Maybe we can use Chase to pay if off after 12/1 and take advantage of chase offer as well (I know they won't let you pick a Chase card during Pay in 4 purchase). Anyone know?

Is it just 20% in points to spend later on something else or 20% cash which can be withdrawn as cash?

How long did this check out process take for you guys? My PayPal thing said I was pre-approved and all that stuff. I went for the pay in 4, for tires from discount tire that I price matched from Walmart. Everything was going smoothly and when I hit the button for the first payment thing I've been hit with a processing PayPal credit spinning circle for like a couple (10ish) minutes now. The circle is still actively spinning so I don't know if I'm frozen up or what.

Did anyone else have this happen? Like my PayPal account itself said I was pre-approved for this and immediately on the click-through payment thing it said I was pre-approved, so it feels like there shouldn't be this much thinking going on.

edit. I'm going to be brave and refresh the web page and hopefully not get screwed into like an accidental double payment or something stupid

edit 2 after like 15-20 minutes of spinning circles I refresh the page and it went back to the paydown button. I clicked it and it immediately gave me another spinning circle of Doom. a payment is actually pending in my bank account though, it's just not taking me back to the discount tire stuff to officially complete the transaction

edit 3. I used up all of my internet bravery. The second time the payment circle of Doom was spinning the background web page was still scrolling up and down. I confirmed in my bank account that only one transaction was going through so I switched tabs back to discount tire and it immediately finished the payment. although now I'm concerned because discount tire says I paid the full amount (which just may reflect PayPal doing it for me) and I don't want to have done that lol

final edit. everything seems to have gone through normal on the PayPal screen in the app it was just an anxiety circle of doom. very strange that I had to manually switch back to discount tires website for everything to move forward though. I feel like I should get 30% discount for that lol. also hopefully I actually get the points or rebate or whatever they're calling this, it would basically amount to a free tire

Does anyone know which credits cards work with Pay in 4 with Paypal?
I have heard that Chase cards and some others don't work. While Bank of America cards do work.
Does SOFi or Wells Fargo work? Any other credit card that works? Thanks.
Citi works

For those of us who did multiple transactions before the terms changed, has anyone's points cleared the $250 limit yet? The email said that all previous transactions would be honored, but haven't seen movement on the rest of them yet. I did get the initial $250 to my account, but the rest is still pending, including some from the same day.
