Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

Victory laps not at all. I was a winner all along because I said what a lot of people said, we just don't know for sure and we should wait and see. the losers are the people who said it will or it won't definitely and there's no further discussion on the matter as if they knew for sure and you didn't.

I see you still believe even some of the points finalized have the ability to be withdrawn, is that why you believe the fat lady hasn't sang, you think this is still a possibility for those points to claw back?

No one argued the definition of a stored value card, what we argued is whether the promotion allowed it and more importantly will the promotion allow it and PayPal simply plans to reverse it. We all know the latter was not going to happen but too many people clung to it and they are the ones who are wrong. They said pending points would evaporate once PayPal read the receipts because "they know what you bought" and "Clearly they intended gcs not to be included." I said it's NOT clear that gcs were not intended else they would have wrote plainly "no gift cards" in code but instead, someone decide to pretend it was ambiguous and therefore up for debate. We now know PayPal uses that term for *other* types of preloaded cards and not ordinary consumer gift cards and the points for everyone are confirming. Gift card orders that are canceled can't get past the gc fraud shields, not because of promotion terms.

Next time we see this promotion and it say "stored value cards" you can buy gcs or you cannot, up to you. But let's not pretend we know what it means *and* we know what bad things are going to happen to you. So much ridiculous. But I know it takes years to put this down, we fought the Amex Offer battle for literally years, still fighting it today....people calling and begging Amex asking if their TC saying "no gift cards" does it *really* literally mean "no gift cards" and if so, why are the guys on SD buying GCs when it says otherwise, nonsense. Ugh!
dude, again... you and I are talking about wildly different things. I couldn't care less about GCs and whether they're against terms and conditions. I have never once said anything about points being clawed back... you must be confused.
the people I was referencing who were doing victory laps were those saying "we knew along / it was SO CLEAR that it was capped at 25k total!!!" - YOURSELF INCLUDED. Guess what, I just got another 20k points posted and expect another 60k in the next few days. Keep coping.

Redeemed the 25k which dropped earlier today from an order placed on 11/17 and shuffled it into the PayPal savings account. Looks like this will likely end up being the defining holiday deal of 2025...

Do you still have the 25k points in paypal when they gave you the addition points today, or did you redeem them for cash and transferred them out before they gave you today's points?

A lot of people disagreed with him along with me. I knew they wouldn't give out all those points, since they left it just ambiguous enough to get away with it in the original terms. Then the revised terms really set it in stone, that's why everyone is reporting right now that they are cutting everything down to $250 max.
Read what I wrote again. I know all of the history of what happened. Whether you disagreed, or thought that they might change the terms in the future, the fact is that at the time, everything he said was correct. If you said af fhe time "they won't honor this" or "they'll change it", then ok (I have no idea what you said), but saying he was wrong is...wrong.

I would not count on it being correct, but I heard a commercial on the radio today advertizing the 20% cash back through 12/7, whicih matches my email, but not the 12/3 people are posting.

All the "it was clearly capped at $250 cash back" people strangely silent.... Legendary deal and thread (for some of us)!

the terms and conditions of this offer were so confusing that some people don't remember what they were even arguing....

He was wrong, and you know it Sanchez, he said per transaction up to $1250 20% back "guaranteed" and that was clearly false, and as for gift cards you guys knew it clearly was against the terms so that was just a gamble if you got it or not, some even got their gift card orders cancelled so even that wasn't 100% anyways. I got all my points so far by the way

was he, though? will you be posting with the same vigor now that you're clearly wrong?
