Pros.
It is compact although it is not as compact as less powerful variants, I miss the AR750S
2.5G ports, you don't see it too often, if you need it, it is well worth it.
The touch screen is more of gimmick but can be useful, especially when you need to to switch between multiple modes, many cases OpenWRT STA mode will prevent it from bringing up it's own wireless, results in you have to use wired connection to change configuration. The touch screen can be protected by a 4 digits PIN now, so it is less of a security concern.
The built in VPN GUI is very convenient, it is NOT available in Chinese version(as Chinese gov. Don't like VPN). I personally appreciate it while I'm fully capable of setup everything in cli.
Cons.
No more TF card slot, which I personally find useful, as I used to have web shares to pass files between Android, iOS, macOS and windows.
This thing runs really hot, and draws a lot of power, you can run it off battery pack but not as long as you might want to.
This thing might never see vanilla OpenWRT release, instead of CCP, it is the closed source drivers of western chips maker to be blamed.
The MLO(multi-link-operation) for WiFi 7 is buggy and basically unusable, I wouldn't bother if this is what you value. The signal is weaker and in certain cases the compatible devices is connected without Internet (faulty link).
I contacted gl inet and they confirmed the tool chain (sdk) is no longer publicly available, you can use original OpenWRT tool chain with same arch as target but nothing is guaranteed.
The last if not least, I think gl inet is being a little bit too comfortable with its market leasing position, I'd recommend you skip this generation and watch out for the next gen, this specific model felt like half baked and not polished at all.
