I'm not worried about the 1 month of data, but would have preferred it to eventually unlock. I expect activation would require receiving a text on the expiring line, but as you mention, it probably does not matter.

When my tablet was delivered, my one month of Metro has expired and my account was suspended. I got a 72 hours extension for my Metro account. I was able to activate my tablet and use it for a few day for internet surfing and watching Youtube. The tablet with the $20 service plan cannot make phone calls on its own. You would have to link the tablet to another Samsung phone using a Metro account in order to make phone calls. Hopefully the tablet will unlock in 365 days.

You need to activate phone before you can order the tablet.

My account has been suspended before I received the activate your device email. I clicked on the link hoping I could activate through the website, without the device (it seems like I have been able to activate a phone before receiving ghe device, but it may have been a different carrier). The link took me to a login page where I needed to enter the suspended number. I did get an email with a temorary code, so I went into the account. I still did not see a way to activate the tablet, so I requested the 72 hour extension, hoping it would unlock a way to activate it without the device, but no.

If anyone knows a way to activate without the physical device, please let me know. I realize I should have waited to do the extension until the tabletarrives, but now I just have to wait the tablet arrives in time..

I wanted to list my experience, in case others are in the same situation. Thanks

My tablet arrived today. I inserted the SIM card, and went up the setup procedure, but the device was not activated. I searched to find how to complete the activation, but gave up and opened a chat session with MetroPCS. They were able to complete the activation.

That makes me think that I could have completed the activation as soon as I received the activation email, before I received the tablet, which I received before my account was suspended.

Not that I would have used the ability, but I can not use calls/texts from the tablet, since my MetroPCS phone is a Razr. I did not realized the MetroPCS phone must be a Galaxy.

Does anyone know if the phone number assigned to the tablet can be used to port to a cellphone line at another carrier?

Good to know they still allow 72 hour extension. My plan expires the day after tomorrow. I was able to order a second tablet last night using one of the activated lines. Hopefully it ships tomorrow so that I can activate it AND replace it with a different device.

Qn for Pros. I bought a tablet under this promo long time back, and activated only via the Website as I wanted to gift this to someone sealed. (i.e. never fired up the tablet).

After 365 days from this activation, would this count towards unlock? Or did I mess up and should've physically activated the device (turned it on and let it connect to network) as soon as I received?

Little bit sluggish. Tons of bloatware. Display is not an OLED for sure.
But hey for $20 its not bad. Large display, but lightweight. It works better with Samsung OLED TV then my other devices so far.
So overall, I will keep it. However, I wonder if I can delete the Metro display during the opening/closing.
And how many days of service do I need to keep this active? Can I cancel it at day 5, pay the first month and be done with it?
