Great price, I bought this for $199 last year around this time and it's been great through a bunch of projects over the last year. For home/DIY this price will be hard to beat

Do you use it primarily for trim work?

Primarily the price. The battery powered nailers are more expensive, but they don't need a hose.

The pneumatic nailers are less expensive and the compressor can be used for other things, like inflating tires.

With the battery operated devices you are buying a mini compressor with each tool, instead of buying one compressor that works for every tool.
The stand alone tools seem to be the way things are going, and it is really convenient for a tiny project to be wireless and just grab and go.

I prefer the tank and hose set up, but I already have a bunch in the wired orbit.

I used this set over the summer for a 100ft fence project. Then i bought myself a battery powered stapler. The biggest difference other than one not needing a compressor is the weight. If you plan to use it for long periods, get the compressor one, much easier on the hand.

Great set, the compressor is loud as expected for this type of compressor but overall good. The nailers are very nice quality for the price.

I have some of the nail guns already. Is it worth it to buy the craftsman $99 compressor from Lowe's? Or any other similar looking ones? I actually have the compressor but it died when I left it outside all summer. Is the rigid that much better?

It's a good mid-tier pancake conpressor. It has a couple nice features like dual outlets (even though it isn't a great conpressor for simultaneous use) and a quarter petcock on the drain.

Downsides are that it is loud and only average performance.

The best value comprimise between performance and price is the Metabo "The Tank". It sustains way more CFM.

Really with these, you need an accumulator tank for most tools other than nailers. High flow tools either need a very powerful CFM compressor or a large volume of compressed air to work from, ideally both.

Trim work, small projects, using the 18ga for a French cleat wall during glue up. Also used it to tack up ~800 fence pickets before going back around and driving screws in.

It's nice to have a compressor for compressor things like inflating tires, blow off tool, or inflating sports balls...but the 18-gauge brad nailer can be used for small trim (window and door trim) while the 16-gauge straight finish nailer can be used for door installations or thicker trim pieces such as floor trim, or crown moulding. Some prefer a 15-guage finish nailer for finishing...but whatever, they are more expensive. At the end of the day, they shoot nails. None of these applications are structural so if it's trim so it's really about ease of use and the finished product and how it looks (don't blow huge holes in your trim that you have to fill in). The door installation might be more 'structural' but it would only be used for interior doors in a home. You can Google different use cases for different guage applications...usually 18 guage brad nails are for wood working, and you want to use wood glue with them too. Brad nails are good for sheer strength but terrible for tensile strength - the lack of nail head on them gives that away but they are more to keep the pieces from moving while the glue dries. Good tools to have, I have both....this isn't a bad deal. The stapler might be good for crown staples.
