Since you can get a gift card in the same amount as the trade in, the consensus is that it's better to get the gift card since the PayPal 20% applies to more.

Is there single transaction limit for Paypal cashback? Or is the limit on the amount on cashback you will receive?

I bought an open box M4 15" 24/512 for $1,271 at Bestbuy.com.

My Paypal rewards activity shows 26,966 points.

If you order your new device for in-store pickup + in-store trade-in, the trade-in is assessed and credit is given on the spot. Mail-in means you are at the mercy of the old device not getting damaged in transit and/or a screw-up at the warehouse where the trade-in's are processed. If given the choice, I would always do the trade-in at the store.

There was a brief window early last week, right when the current sale hit when open-box Macbooks were significantly cheaper than new. The comments you are seeing were from those few hours. BestBuy subsequently adjusted prices to what you are seeing now (ie. there's no secret URL for you to find).

Intresting… okay. I went into PayPal but I don't see best buy as one of "stores with pay later" but since people are saying they see their points pending then it must work.

Smart & Final has $15 SnF coupon for each purchase of $100 in BB GCs.

Buy $1000 in BB GCs in 10 separate transactions.

Use GCs to purchase mac air 512GB for 949+Tax so over 1000.

Enjoy $150 in SnF coupons for groceries.

SnF purchases may also qualify for additional points/cashback from your CC.

Cons:
#1: You are buying with BB GCs so the CC extended warranty will not be there.
#2: Need to make 10 separate transactions so you may need to use multiple CCs or pre-inform your CC.
#3: Need to use $15 SnF coupons in separate small transactions.

Many members will have AMEX Walmart offer so that may be another option to save some.
